The world was quiet, the sorrow of what they were to lose filling the haggard air. The fog of mystified disbelief clung to the wind, a silent reminder that it was not quite over yet. She sat in the dark quiet of the passing reality, making the decisions that would change everything. As she closed her eyes, and gave her lands, and her people a hidden farewell, the sound of the claw of the past crawled through her spiteful goodbye, cutting her short. She muttered her last prayers to the gods she knew could hear her, climbing to her feet as the earth shook around her. She took one last, tortured look at the place she had to leave behind, and she spread her arms wide, welcoming the horror, and humiliation with open arms. She jumped from the realm she'd always known, to fix what she had broken.

She knew she had to fix the broken, and that was all her timid, tortured mind could carry away.
