Waking up earlier than everyone one else was certainly a new feat, not to mention how abnormally quiet the ship was without the others running back and forth around the ship. Amelia let out a small yawn and stretched out; looking over at Nixx, who no doubt was going to take her sweet time before getting up. Though she didn't like to admit it, Amelia needed sleep too sometimes. She shrugged on her black leather jacket and closed the capsule as quietly as she could, but there was always a clank when it shut. She plopped down into the captain's chair, throwing her shoulders back before punching the randomized code of buttons. Then she leaned back in the chair.
The console buzzed to life, some buttons flickered and others made various noises welcoming Amelia to the captain's chair. A grin grew across her face the longer she sat in the captain's seat, it wasn't everyday she got to start up the ship, so she'd take advantage of the captain's absence. She flipped one of the levers, and the steel blinds opened up to her, the view of space before her. Absolutely breathless was the view, both figuratively and in all actuality. A memory flashed across her goggles, the time Collie bet Nixx wouldn't last five seconds without exploding. The two were always challenging each other left and right, and perhaps they should keep a closer eye on them. But it ended with Nixx's head swelling up, were it not for the extra healing pills, she would have been a goner. A shame too if she blew up, where would they find another mechanic who knew what they were doing with the piece of garbage they called a ship?
The memory closed as soon as it had opened, leaving that bit of playful nostalgia lingering in Amelia's mind. She swiveled in her chair, and pulled a lever or two before whoosh. No longer was the ship in a state of stasis; off to the next adventure. Off to steal more stuff as Nixx would usually say. Amelia kept a close eye out on the dimensions before her, making sure to narrowly avoid other traffickers and the occasional space rocks floating by. It could be a real pain sometimes, being backed up in traffic, the nerve of those rocks. Piloting the ship sometimes wasn't nearly as fun without everyone else up and at 'em. Every once in awhile, Amelia would turn her head around to catch the occasional snoring of the others, but no one joined her, which quickly made it more and more dull.
Statistics kept flashing across her goggles, from temperature to estimated time of arrival, arrival to really nowhere so it was kind of pointless. Sometimes if she was lucky, news from the locals would pop up and entertain her as she continued piloting. Whispering trees that soothed people into becoming a part of them, Amelia had to admit this wasn't the first time she'd heard of something like that. Best stay away from them, she quite liked having an actual conscious and enjoyed not being a tree. The other stories weren't nearly as interesting however, typical.
"News any good?" Amelia wasn't exactly surprised that Nixx appeared in the co-captain's chair next to her, but she had to admit she didn't realize she was there.
Nixx looked as if she got little sleep from the night before, lines under rare golden eyes showed it, and yet she acted as if nothing was out of the ordinary. Her short brown hair was tied back in a ponytail because any attempts in taming it seemed lost. Her only white shirt was covered in burn marks, both new and old, but easily hidden by her oversized tan leather jacket that was tied around her waist. Amelia would be in no ways surprised if she slept in those clothes, including her ripped jeans.
"Is this some sort of special occasion? You're usually the last one to sleep in." Amelia mused. Nixx scoffed and leaned back in her chair, arms behind her head. Her gaze was directed at the outside space, not on Amelia. She stayed like that for a good long moment before swiveling in chair and facing Amelia. One of her eyebrows was raised questionably. Amelia mirrored her expression back to her.
"Don't you think you're forgetting about something really important today?" Nixx inquired. Amelia checked her memories again, nothing popped up however. She remembered all the really important information, so what was Nixx talking about?
