The ship stopped shaking and it had halted completely thanks to Amelia. Even the lights above turned off and the room was only illuminated by the emergency ones.
"Did you check for malfunctions in the ship?" Amelia asked Nixx, who was focused on a tablet in hand, swiping and checking through different files and cameras.
"Yes, but nothing's coming up." Nixx responded, not taking her eyes off the tablet. Amelia cursed under her breath; there was always something wrong with the ship. The ship was long over-due for a replacement, eight and half years overdue. Out of all the ships they could have picked, why did Nixx have to fall in love with the garbage? She had mentioned seeing herself in the ship, was she implying that she too was garbage? Because Amelia wasn't going to object if she was indeed saying that.
"So, power's out what now?" Nixx inquired, looking up from her tablet, looking to Amelia for advice. So this is what being captain was like, having people look up to you? Amelia felt both kind of flattered and at the same time was internally freaking out. Where was Roxy at a time like this? And come to think of it, where had Collie run off to? Two questions that would have to wait.
Amelia listened intently to the quiet sounds, occasionally picking up the hiss of steam and creaks of the floors. But then she heard somewhat of a low grumbling, a sound no one with normal ears could hear, but her racial features did come in handy at times. At least it wasn't another hyperextension due to the cyborg ness. But the sound, it wasn't one that the ship normally made, in fact it didn't sound like part of the ship at all. A chilling thought popped into Amelia's head, a bizarre one at that. Amelia grabbed Nixx by the shoulders, and only had to say two words for her eyes to widen and make her frozen still. Space worm. How it got on board, Amelia had no idea, but it was without a doubt on board.
"Nixx, check the cameras. We need to located where it is." Amelia commanded, and Nixx nodded in confirmation. Amelia jumped up from her chair and stood beside Nixx, who was checking each camera carefully. As she flipped through the surveillance, Amelia checked for anything out of place, because space worms were known to start out small and grow in mass at any given time, making the search a little more tedious. Nixx switched to the next camera, but the camera was only static, it was certainly some place to start.
"The camera that is out is the one in the dining hall." Nixx assessed, and Amelia nodded. She continued checking the cycle of cameras to make sure the others didn't go out as well.
"Great so it's probably off raiding our food." Amelia muttered. They already had their own space worm raiding their kitchen. (*cough* Nixx *cough*) They did not need another one too.
"Not on my watch!" Nixx shouted, turning off her tablet and setting it on the console. She leapt from her chair and fished out a key from her pocket. In the control room was a large cabinet, stored away in was no doubt all Nixx's little "toys" that she created at one time or another, it was both there for storage and because sometimes they needed to put her toys in timeout. How Nixx found the key to it? That was a question that would have to wait, what mattered was the fact that there was a space worm onboard. And they had no plans on keeping any stowaways.
Nixx turned the key and pulled the handle towards her. Amelia honestly lost count of how many things they stowed away in there. She saw ray guns, smoke bombs, containers that when you pressed the button shot out a holographic weapon of some sort, and yes even a makeshift crossbow. Nixx tossed the make-shift crossbow to Amelia, and she wasn't going to lie, she'd been waiting for a reason to use it. Nixx also walked up to Amelia with a small disc chip in hand, she placed inserted it into Amelia's goggles before she could get a word in edgewise.
