Chapter 1

Bryan

Once a year, my family takes a trip up north to visit some family, although usually it's a smooth trip. Not this year, this time we aren't visiting for happy times. My grandmother is ill, she has cancer. Terminal. She has been in ICU for a few days now. I have such fond memories with her.

When we arrived in Detroit, the first thing I did was drive to the hospital. I got the room number on my phone. On my way to park my car I was so ready to see her I wasn't looking, and crashed my car head on with another.

My first response was to see if the other person was alright. I got out of my, clearly totaled car, despite the argument of my clearly broken leg. The other driver was out cold. She was beautiful though, bright blue eyes that made me feel like I was staring at the ocean. Stunning brown hair, I can't imagine a girl prettier than her. What a way to meet a girl. Crash into her car, knock her out cold, and total her car. Smooth man. Smooth.

I completely forgot about my grandmother and ran this beautiful girl into the hospital. Well, tried. I made it about four feet before collapsing in pain. Someone came running but I don't remember who. Because in that moment the world went black, and that's all I remember.
