Thoughts were running through Meg´s head. What if her parents wouldn't let her keep Northstar… and anyway what had just happened…. Northstar had told her a few things a least. He told her that she was a mage destined to find Avalon, the lost home of all magic. He also told her that they were meant to be bonded.

But one thing Meg didn't understand was why her? Out of all the people in the world why did she get chosen to undertake this horrifying challenge.

Meg turned to Northstar and asked, ¨ am I the only mage?¨

¨No, there are twelve other´s like you.¨ he replied.

This gave no comfort to Meg. What if she found these other mages and she didn't get along with them. But on the bright side at least she wouldn't be the only one with freaky weirdo super powers.

Meg and Northstar finally arrived at Meg´s house. Meg walked in with Northstar at her side. She saw the shocked, afraid expression in her parents eyes upon seeing Northstar.

Meg's mom was first to speak, ¨Honey theres a wolf in here, get away from it¨

¨No¨ Meg replied, ¨This is Northstar he is my new friend. He won´t hurt you so Don't worry¨

¨Why did you bring him here¨ Meg's father asked.

¨Cause I wanna keep him¨ Meg replied

¨No¨ her father said sternly, ¨ we are not allowing a wolf, a wild animal, to live under the same roof as us. No, no question about it. Now get that-that creature out of our house.¨

Meg opened her mouth to protest but Meg's mom spoke first, ¨James, Don't you think that it would be good for Meg to have a pet? She hasn't made any friends since we moved here. She will be bored out of her mind with nothing to do but sit around here all day. At least if she had a pet she could take him on walks and play with him.¨

Meg's dad sighed loudly, it was obvious he was about to speak, Meg held her breath.

Finally, after what seemed like forever to Meg, he said, ¨alright alright   , you win. She can keep the wolf as a pet-but the first time he tries to bite he´s gone.¨

¨He wont dad, Thank you!¨ Meg hugged her dad and ran up to her room with Northstar.

Everything was totally normal for about two days. Well if you consider having a mistwolf as a pet and finding out your a warrior mage normal, then yes everything was completely ordinary.

It was the last day of the school week when things changed. Walking down the halls of stonehill middle school thinking of how her life had changed so much since she moved here. Thoughts were running through her head so quickly that Meg didn't notice the girl walking in front of her. A sharp banging noise snapped Meg back to reality.

Meg looked and saw a girl had dropped her books on the floor. A crowd of kids were laughing at her and not one of them made an attempt to help her pick her books up. Meg saw the girls eyes begin to tear up as the kids made fun of her more.

Meg had scene enough of this. She stormed up and gave the other kids a hateful glare that made the kids stop laughing and turn away and head to class. Meg turned to the girl, ¨are you okay?¨

¨Ya, thanks. Um I'm Cateriane, but you can just call me cat.¨ the girl said, ¨what´s your name?¨

¨Hi cat I'm Meg¨

¨Nice to meet you¨ Cat said politely.

Meg smiled, it seemed she finally had made a friend. And Cat seemed to be a nice girl. They could hang out together and have fun. Maybe if they got close enough Meg would share with her the secret she had just found out a few days earlier.

¨Hey, Meg¨ Cat said pulling Meg from her thoughts, ¨You live on Ravenswood right? I heard because before you moved in the teacher told us that someone was moving in there. But anyway could I come over sometime to check out the preserve? That is if you wouldn't mind...¨

¨Sure¨, Meg said excited, ¨ that would be great¨

Cat smiled and the bell rang.
