It was now time for the event I was worried about at first, but my previous victories had boosted my confidence so much that I forgot one of the main principles of warfare: the fact that it's a team effort.
As the gates of the arena opened and my team walked out I noticed that I was in trouble. The other team had taken perfect positions: Their sniper had great vision and their gunners could provide perfect cover for their swordsmen while my team struggled to figure out where they were supposes to go...
A shot rang and our sniper was eliminated right off the bat. I ran down and headed for cover, but the swordsmen came towards me and I had to fight a two on one duel. Luckily for me these guys were nowhere near the level that I was trained at and the gunners were distracted by my teammates for about half a minute since they took them out pretty quickly. In that time I had taken out one of their swordsmen, lifted the other one onto my shoulder as a shield and ran towards the gunners. As confusion struck them I threw their comrade into one of them and cut down the other. I then sidestepped a sniper bullet and cut down the two that were just getting up. I didn't have any time to catch my breath as I ran up the staircase of the tower where the sniper was stationed. I rolled out the exit causing him to miss the shot before stabbing him in the gut and singlehandedly winning the match.

After creating a huge fuss in the media by winning a warfare match without my teammates it was smooth sailing and I made a quick rise to semi-professional level. Nothing important happened during those months except for one fight, more specifically: a sword fighting match...
I didn't know at the time how much meeting him would affect my life, but I knew something was up. Just like me he had white hair but unlike my spiky hair, his didn't resist gravity as well and covered his left eye. However, the most important thing was the dreadful feeling I got when I was near him.
As the match began we clashed swords with almost equal speed and strength. We looked each other in the eye and I saw him smile before he kicked me in the shin, but as I dropped to one knee I blocked his overhead swing and punched him in the knee before rolling backwards. I got up by thrusting my sword forwards with all of my weight behind it but he sidestepped and I barely managed to stop myself from falling and stop his attack by holding my sword behind my back.
We paused for a moment as he said: "You're pretty good, kid."
"Thanks. You too", I replied.
"Though no matter how good you are, I will crush you."
He followed that statement by kicking me in the back of both knees and cutting open my back. The pain was very intense, not just physically but mentally as well, since this was my first loss. Though I wouldn't lose again during my rise to the second professional league.
Oh, let me explain how the leagues work: First there's amateur level followed by semi-professional. That is followed by professional, elite and legend, each of which is split up in five sub-levels in which 1 is the lowest and 5 the highest.
So, I quickly rose to professional 2 in all disciplines, but things got a bit messy there...
