When Jack stepped out of the shack with a disappointed look on his face, I knew that we had been screwed over. Jack, who was stumbling in his step, walked over to me and raising his hand. A thin, red line drew from Jack's wrist to the back of his hand. "This is the last time I work with that madman." He said, throwing his hand down in disgust. "You mean Doctor madman, he got a doctorate." I said, trying to be sarcastic. "Well then he should go operate on a person other then me." Jack said, spitting on the ground near the shack. "Last time he almost shot you." I stare back at the shack, then back at Jack. "Best not dig up those old bones, Jack." I said. Jack looks back at the shack. "Did we get the payment?" I said, trying to change the subject. "Yeah, but not all of it." He said. He then tossed me a small bag. I looked in it, counting the money.

"This is stupid!" I yell. Jack shakes his head. "He said that I was a whiny pig and that you shouldn't work with me." Jack smirks for a second, which he does often. "Then he said you would get more money." I kept looking in the bag. We were supposed to get paid two hundred dollars for stealing the Opium shit. The bastard only paid us seventy five fucking dollars. Could've just sold the Opium for more money. I searched the bag for anything else, but found nothing. I looked at Jack, who was smirking for a second time. He unholstered his 9mm pistol and cocked it back. "No." I said. "Hm?" He answered back. "I said no, too many New Order guards." I motioned over to some guard standing on a platform just to the right of us. Jack cocked the pistol back and threw it back in his holster in frustration. "Dammit, thought I could at least kill the bastard."

I shake my head. "You can't, so deal with it." I said. "Better get out of New Jersey anyways, too many people lurking around where they don't belong." Jack nods in agreement, but then shrugs. "Think Sally could have something for us?" Sally could easily find a job that would fit us perfectly, given the time and the money. Even though we had been friends for a few years now, she still asks for the dough. "I guess, this is our only bet right now." I said. I then throw Jack the bag of money and tell him to get the van ready. It was going to be a long ride to New York.

Jack had been a friend of mine ever since Toby got the overdose. Toby said that Jack was a long time friend of his, though I couldn't see the two of them being anywhere close to being even an acquaintance. Toby was way more of a shoot-them-up kind of guy, meaning he would love a chance to kill a person or two in a job run. He especially loves it when something goes wrong. Then he could kill more people in more time. Jack was more of a laid back killer. He kills when he needs to, but sometimes hesitates. He doesn't like doing the assassin type mercenary jobs, he's more of the stealing, scandal kind of person. Me? I guess I'm more like Toby, but I do enjoy stealing every once in a while, especially for the money. That's why I accepted the job with the Doctor. Stealing some drugs, giving it to him, then getting my fare share. Should've known better then to try that on a man with a doctorate.

I watch Jack fetching the van, and I stand there, watching the shack, then the New Order soldiers. I then smile and run over to the soldiers. "Excuse me, sirs..." I said. The soldiers look over at me, wondering what the hell I wanted. Most people don't walk up to soldiers and ask questions. That type of stuff would get you killed, maybe even taken to their headquarters and tested on. But I wanted revenge. "Yeah? What the hell do you want?" One soldier said. "You see that shack over there?" I pointed where the doctor had been staying in, acting as if it were his headquarters. "The man in there owns a large Opium trade, I'm sure you would like to talk with him?" The soldiers talk amongst each other, though I already knew the outcome. They couldn't resist a chance for a promotion, which made them blind enough to accept.

The soldiers walked right past me and stand at the entrance to the shack. The soldiers then take out their assault rifles. I smile, happily knowing what was about to happen. I watch as a man opens the door from inside the shack and is immediately shot down by the soldiers. They then kick down the door, firing more bullets into the shack. Another burst of gunfire, this time hitting a soldier and falling backwards. The other two continue firing as if the other had not been shot. Then one soldier walks into the shack while the other tends to the wounded. He takes out a syringe and injects it into the wounded soldier. A few seconds later, the soldier who had entered the shack comes out with the doctor's body. People around them shriek in fear and start running away. The soldier keeps walking up towards me. "If this the man?" He says. I nod. Before the soldier turns around, I motion for him to wait a moment. "Yes?" He says. "I'm sure there is a reward for his death?" I ask. The soldier sighs, then takes out money from his pocket. He gives the money to me and walks away, carrying the Doctor by the collar. Jack then comes around the bend with the van, staring at the beat-up shack. He then pulls up next to me, eyeing the soldiers.

"What the hell happened?" He said. "It's a long story, look what I got out of it." I show him the one hundred and fifty dollars I had received from the soldier. "That's more then the Doctor paid us!" He says, happily. "We should work with the military more often." I nod my head. "You bet." I open the van's slide door and hop into it. Jack smiles as I shut the door. He then stares at the van controls for a moment and continues driving. It was about time I heard from Sally again. I put my hand in my pocket and take out my cellphone. I unlock it and dial on it. Moments later, a man answers the phone. He had a deep, rusty voice and speaked in small sentences. "Hello?" He said. "Hello, I was wondering if Sally was there?" I said, turning the phone onto speaker so Jack could hear. I could hear a shifty voice on the other side of the phone, then a voice. "Who is this exactly?" The deep voiced speaker said. "Tell Sally its Logan, she'll understand." I said, looking out the window into New Jersey city. People were shambling as they walked, they all seemed to act like zombies, in a way. Then I heard a woman speak over the phone. I could tell exactly who it was in a matter of seconds.

"Hey Sally." I said, trying to act professional. "Hey Logan, sorry about old Toby." I sigh. Sally, trying to stay humorous, as always. "Whatcha need? Guns? Ammo? Contacts?" I shift a little, trying to get a little more comfortable in my seat. The van was too old, I'm surprised it is still running. I guess that's why Toby bought it, because it's reliable. "A job, we need a job." I said. "One second." She said. I could hear Sally move some papers over the phone, then a chair rolling back over. "What kind of jobs? She said, organizing a couple of papers. "Preferably a bounty, I'm in the mood for a hunt." I said. I could hear Jack mumble. Then I start talking over the phone again. "Never mind, I'll go with stealing or something like that." I could hear more shifting papers over the phone, then an answer. "Here we are, looks like the Mutant Underground is looking for someone to get information on New Order testing sites." Sally says, shifting more papers. "That might work." I said. Then Jack started talking. "Maybe it would be better if we went to Sally, see the jobs for ourselves." He said while driving the van through the highway. I knew Sally heard Jack say that, because then she acted as if it were an honor to have us come. "That would be amazing! I mean, if it were business, anyways." She said, happily. "I've always wanted to see Jack, anyways." "Alright then, we are cruising through New Jersey, we will be there in an hour or so." I said. Then it was settled, we would see Sally and we would get a job. It's off to New York we go.
