"And here...Here is the quadrant for any survivors that we managed to save and bring with us after our initial flight to the US," the Head of the Board of Australian Government Directors told the little group as he showed them through the large building.
"It's nice, Eriksen. But why are you only showing us this now. Why didn't you do it months ago when we arrived?" Qrow asked, his voice evidently annoyed.
"You know why, Qrow. We were awaiting the UN decision on how to handle you."
"Yeah? So? What difference did it make? You're showing me now, even with the court order against me. The only thing you did was keep me away from Chris, Jem, and his friends," Qrow replied, looking towards General Carter and the teens, who were walking behind, too involved in their own conversations to listen.
"It wasn't my call. It was an order that came from the American Generals," Eriksen replied dryly, angering Qrow further.
"And what'd you do to object that decision?" He asked sternly, as Carter put a hand on his shoulder.
"Leave it. You know you can't win with him," the General said calmly, while the Head Director continued to walk and explain the facilities. The large building was clearly separated into several parts, and as they continued to make their way through the quadrant, Jem and the rest of the teens followed closely behind, reading the names on the signs that were plastered in front of each shelter room.
"Hmm...Moretz. Fitz. Emmanuel," Kate read.
"Robinson. Porter. Davies," Jethro added.
"Smith. Pence. Parnell," Sal continued.
"So many names. So many refugees. Incredible how they were able to evacuate so many survivors," Angelo stated, before Jem continued to list the surnames.
"Roberts. Proud. Goodison," he said, causing Qrow to perk up as the name rang in his head.
"What was that?" He enquired, before briefly turning back to Eriksen and Carter. "Sorry, this is important."
"I was just reading out the surnames of the families in each of the shelters," Jem replied, shrugging as if the details were unnecessary.
"Yes, but what was the last one you said?"
"Ummm...Goodison, I think...Why?"
"Eriksen, can you unlock the door into that shelter for me?" Qrow asked, his tone indicating that it was more of an order. The Head Director shrugged before reaching into his pocket and grabbing his wallet, then questioned the choice.
"Why? They're just some refugee family we picked up," he replied uncaringly, forcing a glare from Qrow.
"Oh for the love of god, stop questioning my judgement all the time and open it Eriksen. You know I have just as much authority as you, so cut the arrogance. Being the Head Director doesn't make you any more powerful than the rest of the B.A.G.D, so if you don't mind. Open. The. Damn. Door!" Qrow ordered, as Eriksen perked up, before bitterly pulling out a set of keys.
"Be quick. I don't have time for dawdling. I still need to introduce you to the other sections of the compound," Eriksen replied spitefully, as Qrow entered the small, jail-like room. But as he walked in, his navy coloured suit and decorated medals clearly startled the woman and her three children, who met him with frightened gazes.
"Marie? Marie Goodison?" Qrow asked the woman, as he pulled out a picture from his wallet.
"Y-Yes?" She responded shakily.
"And this is Sarah, Paul and Suzie, right?" He continued, his voice softening.
"Y-Yes. W-Why?"
