New Additions and New Surprises

I sit down in front of the community center, because going back in there would be painful. Not because the therapy was working, cos it sure as hell wasn't. It would be painful to sit there watching everyone sit down and pour their emotions out.

The therapy students are let out and the therapist stops when she sees me sitting on a bench.

"Why did you leave early?" She walks toward me.

"I got bored." I shrug.

"Well, you have to complete this class as your sentence and to learn about important life skills." She says, sternly. "I will see you next week?"

"Maybe." I fake smile at her.

She walks away and I roll my eyes at her back.

I sit on the bench for a painstaking half hour. I called Robin like three times already. Where the hell is he?

His car pulls up minutes later and I hop in it, fuming.

"I called you like 3 times." I state, as he pulls away from the curb.

"Sorry, I had some errands to do." He replies.

"Couldn't they wait?" I ask.

"Nope." He responds.

I decide to study his face the whole car ride home- something was up. He looked happy, but then anxious, then happy again, then back to anxious. What's he hiding from me?

I start conjuring up theories in my mind as to what's happening. I stop mid-thought, as I walk up the steps to get into my room. I hear movement. The sound of opening drawers, to be exact.

I slowly walk to the closest closet. I try to be as quiet as I can so that the intruder doesn't hear me. I grab a baseball bat and open my door. Like a little bitch, I panic, and throw the bat across the room, hoping to get em'. The bat just hits an overturned picture frame on my dresser, it shatters, and all of the glass drops to the floor.

A high pitched scream comes out of the intruder. She's a little girl.

"Um. Who are you and what are you doing in my room?" I ask her.

Before she gets the chance to answer, Robin's frantic foot steps and heavy breathing are heard, and he makes his way to the room.

"Lilly, are you okay?" He rushes over to the girl and takes her in his arms for a hug.

She cries on him as he comforts her.

"Can someone explain to me what's going on?" I impatiently groan.

"I decided to take up fostering again. I think it's good for us." He answers.

"And how so?" I question him.

He lets go of Lilly and firmly grasps my right shoulder, pushing me out of the door and into the hallway.

"Lilly isn't going to be here long, only until she gets adopted and I think that it'll be good to witness her adoption." He says.

"You want me to watch something that I never had? Or never will have?" I say.

"You will have it, Clyde. Stop being so negative." He retorts.
