she loves car rides. he loves to see her smile. they drive for hours. she likes car rides in night the best, late at night they drive. he puts his music on, she likes it. it's all music her dad listens to, so it's comforting. sometimes she falls asleep, with her head resting against the open window frame. she loves the cool air and the star filled sky. her hair is messy, her makeup has long since faded and found its way under her sleepy eyes, the outline of her dark red lip liner is all that's left of it after a day of sloppy and passionate kisses. he doesn't mind driving, because he loves to make her happy. he can't remember a happy memory that didn't involve her, but he doesn't mind. she makes him a better him, he doesn't tell her that though, because she doesn't like romance. she doesn't want the beautiful poems or the grand gestures. he'd give her the moon and the stars and everything else, he'd do anything to make her happy, but the only thing she ever wants is him. if you asked her idea of heaven, she'd say dimitri dobra and his arms wrapped around her, a drive in playing a bad slasher flick, and his rusty old car. he makes her feel important, and beautiful, and powerful. she never wants to feel tied down, feel like there's a giant weight on her shoulders, he never makes her feel that way. with him, everything is easy. she is herself, and she is happy. he feels the same. he's only ever known real love from two people. the first time was the day he met marnie, the 32 year old lawyer he learned to call mom, and she took him out school shopping. he realized he loved cat when she fell asleep on his shoulder the first night he came over to her place. marnie had set them up, but instead of going to the movies or to dinner, she wanted to watch american psycho in her basement. he knew he liked her then, but looking at her peaceful face while christian bale committed brutal murders in the background made him realize that she was it. he carries a lot of shame and guilt, he feels the weight of the entire world crashing down on him daily. he is embarrassed of his past and his story. she makes him feel whole, and good. he likes feeling that way. he makes her feel invincible and she makes him feel worthy. he is protective, but not because he doesn't trust her, he knows she can handle her own, he doesn't trust others. the world has wronged him, and she understands that. their relationship feels effortless, like it was simply meant to be. the idea of her life without him frightens her, and he certainly feels the same. the idea of a soul mate never crossed her mind before she met him, and he never thought he'd ever find anyone who he could trust enough to fall in love with. she believes in love and destiny now, and he is starting to believe he is worthy of catalina lombard's affection.
