"RECITAL WEEK I'M SO PUMPED!" My friend Marilyn said as we walked in the room together.
"I know, I'm so excited! Especially because we have our duet and-" I was cut off by her.
"You're like the main person for four of our dances! I'm so proud of you!" I smiled at her and nodded.
"I never thought Ms. Gomez would like me that much!" I was never used to being the teacher's favorite, especially for dance. We warmed up together since we mainly do ballet and jazz warm ups, while Maya does the basic stretches.
We decided to start on our dance titled "Into Blue" which is a slower version of Ariana Grande's Into You and then Troye Sivan's Blue. I know, they're two completely different songs, but they mashed together good.
Its a lyrical dance and basically all the break dancers and hip hop dancers decided to sit out on this one. We only had about 14 dancers in this dance and that's a half of the dancers due to us having like 30 dancers.
It starts out with me and Marylin walking out to the middle and doing a leap and then hitting a pose as we wait for the rest of the dancers to get up.
Maya looked really lost and I worried she was going to freeze on stage. I decided it was best to talk to her after class.
We had rehearsal for 3 hours after school. It was 6pm when we got out and I was starving. I saw Maya begin to leave and I went up to her.
"Hey, you good?" I asked. She shrugged her shoulders. "Don't be scared about performing! You'll do fine. And, we have a saying, 'you mess up, we all mess up.' Which means we'll make the dance look like we're supposed to mess it up. Don't-"
"Just shut up already!" She yelled at me and left. I stood there shocked that she got annoyed by me. I was just trying to help.
Ethan: hey has dance ended? (:
me: yup just finished
Ethan: no (: ?
me: maya just yelled at me bc i was trying to reassure her to not stress too much about the show ):
Ethan: it's just the nerves babeHe's right. She's probably just freaking out right now. And maybe i stressed her more out.
I reached my car and got in. This dance show was going to be 20 years of opening up the dance production team at my school. I'm more than stressed already and I don't need Maya's attitude, so I think it's best to just leave each other alone until the show.
I turned on the car and drove home.
----------------------------------------------
Thursday.I haven't talked to Maya since her outburst and dance wise, she's expressionless. I would've told her to play her part, but we're not talking. I just hope we can work this out because I can't see my life without my best friend.
"Hey hoe!" Callie came up to me.
"Hey! Don't you have swim right now?" I asked her. I was taking a break since I wasn't in this dance.
"Me and Grace are ditching our sports right now." I rolled my eyes and laughed.
"Wow, baddies!!" I laughed again. Callie laughed, too and Jen called me in."Gotta go hoe! Bye!"
"Wait! I cant wait for tomorrow! You'll do great! Love you!" I waves bye and walked in.
Tomorrow is the day. Recital. I'm so freaking nervous.
