I opened the big metal door leading into the bitter air outside. It made a rather jarring noise, as it always did, but I got used to it as the school days passed by. Then I headed to my math class. It was cold and quiet outside. The only thing I could hear was my shoes hitting the asphalt pathway.tip tap tip tap tip tap
I was all alone so I couldn't hear the distant sounds of people. I could see cars driving by on the busy street but I couldn't hear them. The sky was dark like the bottom of the sea.

The stars were shining so bright in the blue morning sky. They were like holes that were cut out of a cardboard box. The holes leading into the heavens. The moon was just a hole that was a little bigger than the rest.

This lack of ambient sound is killing me.

I finally walked up the ramp that led to the portable classroom. The sounds of my friends and enemies speaking to one another.
It was such a relief.
