Today is the day I move in with the Leavening family; my new family for the sixth time. They seem nice. A high school math teacher for a mom, a famous author for a dad, a barbie doll queen bee cheerleader for a sister, a shy emo <almost like me> for a brother, and a screaming midget- to- be for a sibling <not sure of the gender, Mrs. Leavening wants it to be a surprise>. I already have my one bag packed and I'm ready to leave. The orphanage counselor said my new mother should be here any minute now and told me to wait by the door. I'll write later about my new surroundings at the house, wish me luck...
"Hello, you must be Carmella, I'm Taylor Leavening, your new mother,"says Mrs. Leavening. I just nod, I'm not one for talking, actually I'm mute. That's usually what happens to orphans who've been across the whole country in three years or less. "Well, come along now, we'll be late for dinner. Your new family is ecstatic to meet you." On the second thought, I wouldn't mind staying here for another year of two. I feel sick now, I'm not sure they're going to like me.
As she leads me to the car, I stop and gap at the red Ferrari idling in the parking lot. "WHat's wrong Carmella, haven't you ever seen a Ferrari?" asks Mrs. Leavening. I shake my head faster than I was expecting and get a little dizzy. I sway a little., but straighten up as soon as possible. I slowly walk towards the bright red cars' trunk to put my luggage up. "Here, give me your bag and get into the car. I'll put it up." Mrs. Leavening says sweetly. She's REALLY nice; so nice she's creeping me out. I just nod and hesitantly hand her my bag.
I walk around to the passengers seat and open the door. In the cup holders, there's two drinks: a Mr. Pibb and a Sprite <my personal favorite>. I can smell the leather of the new car and something else; something sweet. I look around the car and find a Wal-Mart bag with a clear container of... freshly baked cookies! "Surprise!" screams Mrs. Leavening. I jump up and smack my head on the ceiling of the Ferrari. Thankfully, Mrs. Leavening didn't see. "I didn't know which one you liked, so I got both and I was thinking thinking you might want some real food." I was so happy that someone finally cared for me that I started leaping around the car and gave her a bear hug. I run and jump in; ready to meet the rest of the family face- to- face. As we speed home, I chug the Sprite down and eat a few cookies now and again. Soon enough, we pull up to the mansion. The family is outside with grins on their faces, all except one; the sister...
