"I don't have time for fans right now, just go away." Ashton mumbled to the person behind him.
He was sick and tired of people following him wherever he went. All he wanted was some peace and quiet but nobody seems to respect that anymore.
It started out great, all the girls and the attention from everyone. He felt like he was finally getting noticed and he loved every single second of it. Ashton didn't miss playing lacrosse anymore because he was so preoccupied with the tour.
"It's me, Peyton." The girl introduced herself, a little bit of hurt in her voice.
Ashton's head instantly shot up.
"Peyton? I don't know a Peyton." His statement intending to be a joke, but she didn't take it that way.
Before Ashton could say anything, Peyton ran away and he didn't even try and stop her. Ashton didn’t know what was going on with him, especially because he just let Peyton run away from him.
Maybe he was in shock. Seeing Peyton James all over again instantly brought back the many memories they had together. Just like any other friendship, they had their ups and downs, but everything that happened between them meant everything to him.
“Hey mate, what’s wrong?” Luke came and asked his best friend. “You’ve been gone for like twenty minutes.”
“Oh, I didn’t even notice. Do we have anything to do today?” His mind was not really into the conversation.
“No, we don’t have anything to do but we should get to bed early since we have a packed day tomorrow. “ Luke told him.
“Great, I’ll see you tonight Luke.” Ashton said and ran downstairs to the front desk to get the information on Peyton.
Ashton was nervous about seeing Peyton again, not counting the awkward encounter they had a little while ago. He didn’t know what to say, considering that he just left without telling her why.
He could only imagine what she felt when he left. If it was anything that compared to what he felt, he felt remarkably bad because he was heartbroken for the first few weeks. Then the rush of performing and touring kicked in and he felt invincible.
“I’m sorry sir, I can’t give you the information of guests.” The lady at the front desk told Ashton when he asked for it.
“You don’t understand. This girl, she’s my best friend from Australia.” He tried to explain to her, but she wouldn’t have it.
“I don’t care who she is, I can’t give you the information.” She wouldn’t even budge.
“Well, thanks for nothing,” Ashton looked at her name tag, “Brittany.”
Ashton made his way to the elevator and decided to do some detective work himself. There was a vending machine on every other floor so she must either be on the same floor, one above, or one below.
He ran up and down the halls trying to figure out how many rooms are on each floor. There weren’t very many, which made it a lot easier for him, but he didn’t look forward to knocking on multiple rooms, trying to find the right one.
Ashton couldn’t figure out why Peyton, who was making a lot of money because of lacrosse, was staying at a run down hotel like the one that he was in. He still followed her career because it was her dream and he would support her till the end.
He was so proud of how good she was and how much she got better. The countless hours that Peyton put into lacrosse was remarkable, and to think that they were on the same team before, it was unreal to him.
“C’mon, c’mon, Peyton please tell me this is your room.” Ashton mumbled to himself.
He’d been knocking on rooms for the past ten minutes and he couldn’t take another door getting slammed. The things he would do for her and they haven’t even seen each other for a year.
“Sorry, Peyton won’t be taking any – wait, Ashton?” Christopher smiled and pulled the younger boy in for a hug.
“Ashton Irwin, what a pleasure to see you. How have you been?” Ashton walked into the room and took a seat at the table that was near the window.
“I’ve been alright, considering the whole world tour and all.” He cheekily smiled at him.
“How could you just be fine? Your life seems amazing right now. To be honest, I’m actually really jealous.” Christopher admitted to him.
They caught up for a little bit and then Christopher asked him the serious question that they both knew were coming.
“Why did Peyton come running in crying?”
“We saw each other in the hall earlier and I was surprised to see her so I panicked. I didn’t know what to do so I pulled a joke like I usually do, but she didn’t see it that way. Peyton just turned around and ran off.” Ashton admitted to him.
“I don’t know what to do to explain it to her. Chris, I don’t even know where she is and all I want to do is give her a big hug.” He looked like he was close to tears. His hands were constantly running through his hair and his right leg was bouncing up and down.
“Ash, turn around.” Christopher instructed him.
Ashton wasn’t paying attention to him so Christopher grabbed Ashton off the couch and turned him so he was facing Peyton. Chris noticed her standing there throughout his little melt down but decided to let him finish because she needed to hear it and he knew that Ashton wouldn’t do anything if he knew she was there.
Chris remembered when Ashton first left and Peyton was so out of touch from reality. She even wanted to quit lacrosse, but he was able to convince her otherwise. Peyton was a mess and Chris wanted to kill Ashton for it, but he saw how happy he was when he was on stage.
Even though Peyton was his sister and she was hurting, Ashton was like a little brother to him and he wanted him to be happy as well. Though he never expected Ashton to be into music or even be in a band, Chris was still very supportive of his sudden decision to tour the world with One Direction.
“Oh Peyton, I’ve missed you so much.” Ashton immediately ran over to Peyton and attempted to give her a hug, but she pushed him away.
When Peyton pushed him away, he knew that he lost her, but he was in for a pleasant surprise.
“I want to hug you too Ash, but I’m in my robe and that would be a little awkward.”
Ashton’s head shot up and he looked like he was going to yell, but then started crying.
“Don’t cry Ash, it was just a joke. It was payback for joking with me earlier.” She tried to explain to her and he stopped crying.
He didn’t care if Peyton was in her robe, he wrapped her in a huge hug and didn’t plan on letting go.
