"Tsunami!" He hurried after the SeaWing princess.
Tsunami turned at the sound of her name. Upon seeing Riptide, she grinned. "Well, look who it is." She said.
"What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be at Jade Mountain?" Riptide asked.
"I thought I would visit Auklet. I haven't seen her in, like, FOREVER." Tsunami explained. Then she looked at him. "Aren't you supposed to be with the Talons of Peace?"
Riptide shook his head. "The Talons have kind of disbanded."
"Oh, well, that's too bad." Tsunami said very cheerfuly.
"How long are you going to be here?" Riptide quiered, ignoring Tsunami's tone.
"Just one more night. I have to get back to the Academy." She answered. "Why?"
"Oh . . . I was just hoping that maybe you'd be here for a while." Riptide said, embarrassed.
"Really?" Tsunami gave him a look.
"Um . . . yes. But you won't be, so. Yeah." Riptide answered lamely.
Tsunami rolled her eyes, then said, "I was thinking I'd like to brush up on my Aquatic while I'm here. I haven't had much practice lately. And you are a WAY better teacher than Whirlpool." She added, wrinkling her snout.
Riptide's face lit up. "Sure!"
Around Midnight:
"I think my Aquatic is improving nicely." Tsunami said, pleased.
"It is." Riptide glanced out of the cave. "It's getting late." He commented.
"Yeah. I should probably go before Mother sends the whole palace searching for me." Tsunami snorted.
"Are you really not afraid of her?" Riptide asked.
"Why should I be? I'm her daughter." Tsunami replied.
"Even so, she's a powerful dragoness." Riptide pointed out.
"Well, SO AM I, so she'd better get used to me." Tsunami said in a regal voice.
Riptide chuckled. "I don't think she's going to have a choice."
"Nope." She tossed her head.
"Would you . . ." Riptide stopped nervously.
"Would I what?" Tsunami demanded.
"I mean, would you . . . Well, uh . . ." He stammered.
"Would I what, Riptide?" She asked impatiently.
"Wouldyoudefyherrightoutintheopenaboutmarriage?" He blurted.
"Um . . . What did you say?" Tsunami hadn't understood a word of it.
Riptide took a deep breath, then said at a more comprehensible speed, "Would you defy her right out in the open about, um, something like, uh, marriage?"
"What do you mean?" Tsunami stared at him.
"Um . . . well, I guess I mean . . ." He mumbled something that Tsunami couldn't here.
"THREE MOONS, JUST TELL YOU WHAT YOU MEAN!!!" She yelled.
"Tsunami, will you marry me?" Riptide asked hurriedly.
Tsunami stared at him. "What?"
"Will you marry me?" He asked again.
"Uh . . ." Was all she managed to say. Riptide watched her anxiously.
"But . . . where would we go?" Tsunami wondered aloud.
"Maybe we could go to the Academy?" He replied.
"I guess so . . ." She trailed off, another thing occurring to her. "Mother won't like it." She warned.
"I know," He said resignedly.
"Although . . . I've never done exactly what she'd like, have I?" Tsunami mused.
"So you'll do it? You'll marry me?" Riptide asked hopefully.
Tsunami smiled. "I suppose so."
The next morning:
"Mother! I need to talk to you." Tsunami called to Queen Coral. "In private." She added.
"Yes, dear?" Coral asked when she had dismissed all other dragons from the audience chamber.
Tsunami took a deep breath. "I got engaged." She said.
Coral's eyes widened. "To whom?" She demanded
"To Riptide." Tsunami answered.
"WHAT??? RIPTIDE??? WHY WOULD YOU MARRY HIM???" She roared.
"Because I love him, and I want to." Tsunami replied, trying not to yell back.
"NO!!! RIPTIDE IS A TRAITOR, AND I ABSOLUTELY FORBID YOU TO MARRY THAT DRAGON!!!" Coral shouted back.
"WELL THEN TOO BAD, BECAUSE I AM GOING TO MARRY HIM WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!!!" Tsunami snapped, losing her temper.
"Tsunami, a princess just doesn't marry traitors. Or low-class SeaWings, and Riptide is both of those." Coral managed to calm down somewhat.
"Why not?" Tsunami challenged.
"Because it just isn't done! And his father stole you from the Royal Hatchery!" Coral hissed.
"Well, it just is about to be done, and it Riptide's not his father." Tsuanmi hissed back.
Coral was quiet for a moment. Then she said coldly, "If you marry that traitor, I will banish you from the kingdom. And if you ever return, you will be treated like the traitor you have become."
Tsunami hesitated. She had always dreamed of becoming Queen. Now she had a choice: The chance to rule the Kingdom of the Sea, or be with her love. She made her decision.
"Very well, Mother. Then I should get back to the Academy." Tsunami said quietly. She turned and left the chamber.
Three months later:
Tsunami wriggled away from Sunny as she tried to polish her scales before the wedding.
"Hold still!" Sunny exclaimed, reaching for Tsunami's wing again.
"Why do I have to do this?" Tsunami moaned.
"Because you want to look best on your wedding day." Glory replied from the entryway.
Both Tsunami and Sunny jumped. "Three Moons, don't scare us like that, Glory!" Tsunami yelped.
"That's Queen Glory." The RainWing queen corrected, walking into the room.
"Then I'm Princess Tsunami." Tsunami said huffily.
"Ex-Princess." Glory corrected again.
Tsunami just glared at her. Sunny took the opportunity to grab Tsunami's wing again.
"Anyway, you guys need to hurry up. You've only got a half hour before the ceremony starts." Glory changed the subject.
Tsunami shifted nervously. She felt butterflies in her stomach at the thought of getting married in front of everyone she knew. Well, not everyone, she ameneded. Queen Coral would not be attending, of course.
"Nervous?" Sunny asked sympathetically.
"A little bit." She replied.
Thirty minutes later, Tsunami stood outside of the main hall at the Jade Mountain Academy where the wedding was to take place. Her scales shone like jewels, and a strand of pearls had been wound through her horns. She looked absolutely stunning. Sunny and Glory waited beside her. They would be the bridesmaids(or whatever they're called in Pyrrhia).
"It's time." Glory said as the music started up.
Tsunami took a deep breath and started down the aisle. Everyone in the room stood up. But Tsunami was only watching Riptide. His scales had been polished as well, and he looked extremely handsome. He also had a rather nervous expression on his face.
Starflight, who was going to marry them, waited next to him.
Arriving at the front of the hall, Tsunami stood beside Riptide. Starflight began his speech, but Tsunami didn't hear most of it. She was too busy looking into Riptide's eyes.
Finally, she heard Starflight say, "Riptide of the SeaWings, do you take this dragoness to be your wife and mate?"
"I do." Riptide replied.
"And do you, Tsunami of the SeaWings, take this dragon to be your husband and mate?"
"I do." Tsunami said without hesitation.
"Then by the power given to me by the Queen, I pronounce you dragon and dragoness. You may kiss the bride." Riptide leaned down and kissed Tsunami. As he did so, she thought that she'd never been more happy in her life.
So, what do you think?
