"I'm here, I'm here" I screamed as I threw myself in the class. 'Ding, Ding!' The school bell rang as I stepped both feet in class.
"Well that is quite an entrance Ms. Victoria, would you like to introduce yourself" the teacher said. My face burned with embarrassment, I just shook my head no and stood pulling at my fingers. "Ok then you can sit beside...." He teachers voice trailed off as he looked for an open seat. "Kim Namjoon!" He said pointing to a tall, tan boy in the very back.
I walked over to the last row and sat my books down next to Namjoon. He didn't even lift his head up and kept writing things down on a sheet of paper. I silently sat down and reached for my books on mathematics. As I reached for my pencil it fell off the table and rolled under the desk beside me. It was my only pencil I had , so if I didn't get it my studies would be done for the day. As I reached down a hand touched mine, I jerked my hand back and looked up. Sitting beside me was a boy. His hair was Black, his lips were the color of roses, and his eyes were the prettiest I had ever seen.He picked up my pencil and introduced himself. " Hello, my name is Park Jimin, here is your pencil" he said. He was honestly the most beautiful person I had ever seen.
I guess my eyes were in a sort of shock because I could not seem to take my eyes off of Jimin.
"Ms.Victoria, if you put more attention on your studies as you do to Jimin you might be a very good student!" The teacher reproached. Jimin noticed I had been staring and sucked in a giggle. My face burned and I looked the other direction to what Namjoon was doing.
*Ding Ding* the bell rang to dismiss us to our second class. I quickly ran out of the class and directed myself to the next class. I stood in the back and waited to be seated. My phone vibrated in my book bag, it took me a while to find it but I did. It was a text from my best friend in the US. ' how is South Korea? Are you living your dream, do you feel more understood?' I looked up. 'No, I will always be socially awkward no matter who I am with or where I go' I texted her back. A few seconds later she responded ' well, yeah I guess your right we will be weird no matter where we go'. As I was about to respond a tap on my shoulder made me jump.As I turned around I met the teacher straight in the eyes. "You can have it back at the end of class". As the teacher took my phone all attention was put on me, my social anxiety was starting to show as I shifted in place. I never enjoyed attention, it made me feel sick inside and all I wanted to do was hide. Being the strange person I am I started to turn around and face the wall, all I wanted to do at that point was to have people stop starring at me.
I turned around and everyone started laughing.
'Weirdo' they sneered. And I couldn't deny it , I was , what was I supposed to do?
I stood facing the wall for a while until the teacher summoned me to the front of the class."Ok child what Is your name?" The teacher said her tone obviously showing how irritated she was. "Victoria Lee Sung" I responded in a whisper. "Ah, well Victoria, you can sit in the very back in that seat by the pencil sharpener" the teacher pointed to the back of the class. I silently walked in between the desks to my seat, I nearly tripped but I made it.
I sank into my desk and wished this day was over. Public humiliation had always been very near to my daily life, but this was embarrassing. My first day at a new school in a totally different country and I was already making a fool of myself!
'Great way to start Victoria, showing your inner self' the voices inside my head fought with me. I tried studying but All I could feel was embarrassment. Finally, the bell rang.
"Thank you!" I said silently.
I walked to the front of the class to pick up my phone. " Next time I see this little gadget out in class your going to have to pick your phone up in pieces" The teacher said. 'I know the teacher I'm going to hate' I thought. "Yes mam" I responded and silently walked out of class.
