Wednesday:
8:05- Time to start school. I ate a good breakfast (I didn't say balanced, I said good) to kick off the morning. I poured out my favorite cereal, Cocoa Rice. I topped it off with a cinnamon roll, my favorite pastry. Anyway, I'm waiting patiently for class to start, but it seems as if it'll never happen. Once again, I'm here journaling while other people are having conversations. Here's an interesting piece of information I picked up: Jared and Jamie Wyler are having a back to school party Friday night. I wonder who all will be invited...
12:15- Lunch is halfway over, thank goodness. Thankfully, the rest of my morning was pretty occupied with work and so was everyone else's. That made me feel less excluded. Anyway, lunch has been okay, I guess. Good pizza. Good conversation too, really. I just didn't feel welcome to feed into it. Wow, journaling is difficult with all this noise.
"Kim?" A voice said.
Nah, it's just me. No one said anything.
"Kimberly?" The voice sounded exasperated.
Maybe someone really is trying to talk to me?
"Earth to Kimberly!" Said the voice.
She looked over. Shoot. Gotta go, Journal. Talk to you later.
Shyly, Kimberly put her pen down and looked up from her journal.
"That journal keeps you pretty distracted, huh?" Said a genius boy, Noah, who sat at the same lunch table.
"Oh," Kimberly blushed. "Yeah, sorry. I was just documenting my day. I didn't want to forget my senior year."
"Careful," Noah smiled. "You'll miss the good stuff if you spend so much time documenting stuff."
Kimberly shrugged. "It's okay. It passes time. So what were you wanting?"
"I was just curious if you were going to that party Friday night," he said.
"Jared and Jamie's you mean?" Asked Kimberly. She didn't remember getting invited.
"Yeah."
"I wasn't invited," Kimberly responded shamefully.
"It's not an invitation sort of thing. They're just advertising it and whoever shows up shows up," explained Noah. "Kaycee and Jasmine are going."
"What about Kendra?" Asked Kimberly, wondering about her third friend.
"I don't know about her," he said. "I'm guessing not."
"Well," said Kimberly insecurely, "I don't know. We'll see. People don't generally talk to me a lot so I don't think a party would be the best setting for me."
"Come on," he smiled, "it'll be fun. We'll hang out together. I'll make sure you don't feel left out?"
A smiled tugged at her lips, pleased that someone was willing to go out of their way for her. "Why are you doing this?"
"Because," he said, "I see your beauty."
The comment pierced into Kimberly's heart. It seemed as if no one else admired her for who she was, but he did. She couldn't turn him down. "Okay," she smiled eagerly. "I'll go."
"I'll pick you up at seven, where do you live?" He asked.
"I'll text you!" She replied. "So...is this a date?"
"Yeah," he smiled and blushed a little. "It's a date. See you Friday." He walked off.
9:06- I'm home now, and had the most wonderful day. I would've written sooner, but I had homework and spent a while discussing my day with my mom. Anyway, the really smart guy Noah invited me to go with him to a party! Not as friends or acquaintances, but as a date! It's my first one! I asked him why he would want to go out with me, and he told me it was because he could see my beauty. What a wonderful day and a wonderful guy. I think I'll skip journaling tomorrow, but I'm definitely going to write Friday after the party-date!
