the next day

{eleven's pov}

last night Mrs. Wheeler said that I could live with them, and both me and Mike were very happy. Mrs. Wheeler gave me a mattress in the basement (which wasn't my preference, but surely was an upgrade from sleeping in my tent.) 

this morning I woke up to Mike with a plate full of Eggos and some Orange Juice. "Hey, El. " Mike said. "Morning, Mike. Thanks for breakfast," I said. "No problem, El. Today, Nancy wants to take you shopping for some new clothes." 

"Clothes?" I was confused.

"You know, what you wear. Like Nancy's old dress."

"Oh. Okay."

{small timeskip and switch to mike's pov}

the whole way to the mall, me and El held hands in the back seat of the car. I won't let go this time. I can't lose her twice. Just thinking about this made me want to get closer. I slowly let go of her hand and made my way up to rest my arm around her neck. She looked at me with those gorgeous, big brown eyes that completed her beauty. She smiled. I felt my face get warmer and I could tell that I was a blushing mess. 

When we got to the mall, we first went in to Vans. Since we would now be going to school together, we would also need to get her some school stuff. She fell in love with a galaxy-patterned backpack with an embroidered skateboard reading "Vans Off The Wall". "I love it!" El said. "Well then consider it yours!" Nancy said. We brought the backpack up to the register and Nancy paid. "I-I think that it will look great on you, El," I said, nervous af. "Thank you, Mike." she replied. We just awkwardly smiled at each other for a while. 

Then we went into Old Navy. El found some basics- like striped tees and solid tanks and some pairs of jean shorts. Then we went to Lululemon and she got some leggings and hoodies. We then went to Claire's. "Can I get earrings, Nancy?" El asked. "Of course, but you'd have to get your ears pierced." she replied. "What's ears pierced?" El asked. "It's when they quickly stick a needle into your ear lobe but then take it right out. Then they put earrings in and you can wear any kind of earrings you want! Really it doesn't hurt that bad, only for a few seconds." Nancy explained. "C'mon. You'll like them!" El sat on the chair and the Claire's employee pierced her ears. El was afraid so I held her hand when they did the piercing. When it was over they put pearl earrings in. They were tiny. She looked wonderful. "El, you look- amazing." I told her. She smiled. She looks so adorable, I suddenly have the urge to kiss her. We're in a corner and Nancy is looking at earrings for El, so I go for it. We kiss on the lips for a good 3 seconds before Nancy calls El over to pick some more earrings and jewelry. We then go to Nike and get El some running shoes. She picks white ones with a black swoosh. She looks great in them.

We finish our shopping and head home. El and I hop in the backseat as Nancy loads El's stuff into the trunk. I lean in for another kiss. This time- LONGER. I could get used to this. "I love you, my El." I say. "Love you too, Mike" she responds. I love her more than anything in the world. Nancy gets in the car and we drive home. I hold El the whole way home.
