I still was confused about my sister. She passed the entire day saying she has seen that Michael somewhere. I was sick of hearing his name again and again, so I tried to help my sister remembering where he had saw him, but I've failed.
And she went even crazier when I left her behind sleeping in class and Michael woke her up.
I was on the sofa, still with the clothes I wore to school, snapping my fingers once, twice and then multiple times, getting hypnotized by the flame that surged on my fingers every time I flicked it. On. Off. On. Off. My sister must be serious. On. She never gets so troubled with a boy. Off. But she never gets out of the mansion. On. Except to go to that lake. Off. She never misses a week without going. On. There must be. Off. And explanation... On.
-"I got it!"-With the brightness of the flames, an idea passed on my mind. I think a grabbed the chicken by the feather. Or was it a horse? Never mind. I flicked a last time my fingers to turn them off and got up.
I raced to the stairs to look for my sister.

-"Reincarnation? Have you gone bunkers?"- My brother said he was going to help me solve my problem, but it's THAT even a solution?
-"It's just a suggestion. I don't know if it's true, but think about it. I already made my calculations, and we're not that young. It's possible."
-"Really?"- I was curious, he didn't made calculations since the ending of the last century... wait, no, since the ending of the century before last century!
-"Yes. We have too many candles this year. It makes a good pair with the spooks given on October. Great month to celebrate our birthdays."- He said with sarcasm. It was true. Last time the number was real high. This year we'll need the whole bakery.
-"Don't scare me. Let's forget about the reincarnation business and tell me how old are we!"- I shook him in desperation. He got away and regained his balance.
-"This year, we are celebrating an anniversary."- He stayed silent for a few seconds, to make the ambient more tense.-"On October 17 of 2015, we are going to be..."- He made a drumming noise with his mouth, moving his hands up and down with each one an extended finger, like he was drumming.-"... four hundred years old!"
-"What! 4-0-0?"- I spelled every number, to see if I wasn't hearing wrong.
-"Yes. We... are well conserve."
-"No way, but..."- I tried to figured out how was it possible.-"... when we were born?"
-"Ha, sis, accept it. We are rotten flesh walking in a place full of mortals."
-"Wow..."
-"October 17 of 1615 saw the Temp twins be born. "- He said as he was reciting a poem. -"We are living legends."
-"NO WAY."- I paced all over my room, and decided to open the crystal door that leaded to my private balcony, to let some air in.
-"What, you want fresh air for us old fellows?"- He laughed and leaned on my bed, looking at the ceiling that was decorated with stars Axel, James and me painted more than three hundred years ago.-"And I still have my charms."
I leaned at his side, looking at the ceiling too. Those stars were getting older with us, the paint almost faded from bright yellow to pure white.-"Incredible. We need to get a life secure."
-"Ha! We're already on the ground, sis. By papers."
I received a mental slap on my face. Axel was right. There are two graves at the old cemetery with our names. Everybody, in those days, though we were down there... and we actually were.-"Creepy, don't you think?"
-"Alice, we were born on October. And, by the doctor's mouth, we weren't supposed to survive. Twins on those years were so rare; they said it was a miracle if both were born alive."
-"And here we are. More alive than everybody else."
-"A miracle."
-"A curse!"
-"Ah, both."- Axel didn't like to be immortal, but he was right. We have done some things we couldn't have accomplish if we weren't immortals.
-"Maybe."- I admitted.-"But I always tried to guess how would our life have been if we actually could grow up."
-"That's easy."- He closed his eyes and placed his hand on his forehead. He was visualizing our 'lives'- "You would have been the first famous woman violinist. You know how discriminating were before. Probably married, with two kids. No! Wait... three. Just like us."
-"Thanks, fortune teller. Now's my turn."- I closed my eyes and mimicked him.-" You could have been a great sportsman. Probably made one record or two. A lot of gold medals. A beautiful wife with just one child to give your attention."
He applauded me-"Better than Wikipedia."
I laughed. Not all the time I let myself loosen up, but every time I did, I felted wonderful. And my brother loves to see me happy. I was alone with the only person I could trust. I let my true colors flow.-"Thank you very much, gentlemen."- I got up my bed and began to talk with excitement, something that I never do. My brother's eyes lit up when he knew this Alice was here.
-"Now, if you let me present you, Alice Rachele Temp, famous violinist from XVI century!"- Axel got up and sat at the corner of my bed, expecting my show. I looked for my violin and founded it at my dresser. I opened the case, picked it up and began to play a little bit of every famous artist from the era, from Mozart to Beethoven. Axel was delighted, and I was dancing with the music that came from my violin. I knew so well the violin; I could play it backward while making a summersault and didn't make a single mistake. I love it!
Well, I love it so much I froze the strings in the middle of Beethoven's Ode to Joy. Instead of getting mad, I just laughed. Like the name of the song, I was bursting with joy.
My brother started laughing too, and gave me a hug.-"That's my old sister."- He said, smiling, his eyes sparkling a bit with tears. But he didn't cry.
I placed the violin on my bed and hugged him back. From another point of view, we should have looked silly, because of my height, but I didn't care. He brushed my hair with his hand, liked he used to do when we were little when I was scared. He always was taller than me.
My face was on his chest. I felted his crystal pressed on my face, the one that was exactly like mine, instead his was red and mine was blue. The crystals that we only could hold...
Ice and fire...
I got happier, because he never uses it .-"You're really cold."-He told me.
-"And you're really hot."- I said too, keeping track of what he said.
-"Thanks."-He laughed and I pulled him away from me.
-"Eww, no!"- I laughed with him. -"You have your crystal on."-He looked down at his chest and pulled the black cord in which hanged his crystal. I saw the red shine in my eyes. I pulled mine out and showed it to him. I always wear it below my shirt, and looks like Lex's too. -"Twins till the end."- Maybe I'll lose everybody in my life, but Axel will ALWAYS be there for me, for eternity, no matter what.
-"Yes, till the end."
