I ran out of the house and into the woods, my head and eyes burning. I could barely see, and tripped over roots and rocks. But, something fleshy made me go face first to the ground. It yelped at me.

I hid my eyes, scared it was the it Jeff feared. It hissed. I heard it bound off. I looked up to see it was a raccoon. Thank god...

I watched as a dog with red-ish brown and black fur attacked to raccoon and ripped it apart it one quick movement. It was a Tibetan Mastiff, with white foam running from it's mouth and infected, red eyes.

I felt fear consume me. I tried to army crawl away, but a rock with a sharp edge rubbed my side painfully. I tried to get up slowly, but I was stuck. That rock had grabbed the hoodie and held it. The Mastiff saw me and growled.

"No... No. No. No." I said, trying to wiggle out of the hoodie. I couldn't get to shelves off my arms fast enough. The dog ran at me and bit my right arm. I screamed and kicked it in the chest. I watched as blood shot out of my arm in little sprays of crimson.

It snorted and tried to attack once more. I got one hand free and held to hoodie out. It bit in and ripped it open. As it ripped fabric out of it's teeth, I ran back to Jeff. He ran past me and at the dog. He yelled at it like an animal and it yelped, running with it's tail between it's legs.

"My hoodie!" Jeff cried, falling to the ground. "I'll miss you, old friend." He hugged the shreds of white cotton. I felt my body shut down. I got dizzy and couldn't control my legs. I fell to my knees. Before I passed out, I looked at the bite. White foam and blood was pouring out of it...

I looked at the noise to my right. Briana was face down in the dirt. She didn't move. I threw a piece of my hoodie at her. Nothing.

"Briana?"

'Maybe It killed her?' Old me said.

"No! Smile wouldn't! He's my dog!"

'Was, Jeff... Now, Smile's rabid. It could kill her. Look at her arm!'

"No... NO! Me, what do I do!?"

'Take her to the hospital!' Jeffrey thought."But they'll take her from me forever!" I cried.

'If she dies, it won't affect me...' Jeffrey left.

"Jeffrey? FINE!! I'LL GO!!" I screamed.

"But first..." I ran house, grabbed a rusty chain, and found my dog. After I was finished will him, I went back to her.

I picked up Briana and ran to the train tracks. I ran past the Raven Lake sign and across the street, dodging a SUV and an eighteen wheeler. I ran a couple blocks to the hospital. The emergency room was only a couple yards away when I heard the sirens. The stupid door wouldn't open fast enough.

CRASH!!

Glass was everywhere. In my hair, and clothes. On the floor. Some stuck to the ceilings and walls. I looked at everyone's faces. "I'll... uh... I'll pay for that..."

I walked up to the lady at the front desk.

"Don't hurt me!" She screamed.

"My friend needs help," I said calmly. She didn't know how badly I wanted to slit her throat.

"What did you do to her?"

"Nothing. My dog bit her and he has rabbis."

"I can't help you," she hissed.

"Please? Her dad's in the military! She has insurance," I smiled politely. She cowered and I remembered my polite was ugly...

"No... I can't," she continued.
