It felt as if we had been talking for hours when we finally arrived at my home.
Home......
My home........
It was my home?
Our home.
With a few last bumps and skips our cairrage came to a stop in front of a large palace. I sat in my seat while the others got out. I was transfixed. It's size was massive, at least ten times the size of minor King Harpies palace.
The color scheme was a little different though, it was of bright purples and deep reds. Describing it was to hard to put into words.
Snapping me out of my trance , my father.... swims in front of the cairrage window.
"Welcome to Atlantis."
Atlantis.
So this is what it looked like.
Was it the real Atlantis that had been said to be lost long ago in myths? If it was,  I would have no idea because no one knew what Atlantis could have looked like .
The palace was closed off by large blue walls of smooth stone that looked like it was in perfect condition.  Outside of those walls were many cottage like merhouses and seacaves. There were many mermaids and mermen rushing amoung the streets carrying on with their daily lives.  Inside the walls of course there was silence as palace gardeners and horse men  went along with their work. A mermaid with long blue hair and a bright red tail was pruneing some sort of exotic seaweed lining the enormous path leading up to what was supposedly the front doors. Could I even say they were doors? Well at least not a door for someone my size, it looked as if it could fit a giant inside it.
" You look just like your mother you know?" Said my...... father.
"My mother....." a sudden rush of memory flooded into me, ones that made me miss her alot more that I already had before. I miss her terrible home cooking, how her hair smeeled like the ocean breeze at all times, and the way that if you looked into her eyes, you could see so much love and compassion it was almost overwhelming .
" ...yes, I miss her too" the king said.
That made me think, it made me want to ask, 'then why did you leave her?Why did you come back here?' But I restrained myself partly, and the other part of me was taken by suprise of the interior of the palace as we swam in.  The celing was even higher than the door, which seemed virtually impossible,  yet here I am swimming, seeing it. Hanging from the ceiling was an extravagant chandelir that could easily be the size of a semi-truck.
"Welcome home Pear.......Britt"
Therewas an unmistakably huge grin on his face, he seemed overwhelmed with joy, but he seemed as if he was trying to contain it. I smiled back at him,  and it was real too, I was happy to know that this was my home, and I got to meet my real father.
" I'll let you get settled in a little, and let you get sleepy it's been a long day."He glanced at a guard and spoke to him.
"Chanler , would you please show Britt, my daughter, to her quarters she will be staying in. Oh, and also her friend here?"
"Of course my lord, " he bowed slightly and then turned to me.
"Follow me your highness. "
Quarters? Wow, they seen to have the whole royalty thing down, I mean they've been doing it their whole lives. And also, 'you're highness'? I don't think I'm gonna get used to that, I'm hardly a princess at all, at least I do not act like one, not look like one,  I was just born into it, I guess.
Me and Gilmore followed the well dressed guard down a series of twists and turns, and then up a few flights of stairs until we reached a large Galway with many doors leading to what I beleive may be bedrooms. About three doors down, with a red from he stopped. He opened the door and bowed his head.
"This is your quarters my lady. And sir gilmore,  toures is one down from hers. If you need any help, just call for me, I am now your humble servant. Before I forget as well, this floor is occupied by the queen herself, and she tends to like quiet, so I would recommend being a little quiet, good day ma'am. "
He left the Galway and made his way back to what he had been doing before,  leaving me and Gilmore swimming in front of the doorway to my quarters.
"So Britt, how does all this make you feel? I mean, finding your father,  and suddenly moving into a gigantic palace?"
There was a gleam in his eyes,  that I vouldnt place what was. But I knew it wasn't jealously,  he was just asking out of his heart.

I then remember a story Gilmore had once told me.
Gilmore had never met his father, he had left his mother after he found out she was pregnant.
Maybe there was a hint of jelousy in his eyes, not for me now living in this gigantic palace, but for me finaly meeting my real blood father.
"Yeah," I smiled at him, "I'm alright, it makes me feel like I've finaly found the last price missing in my heart, like I'm full inside."
His smile faded a little but I hardly noticed it.
"In glad for you Britt. " he smiled again and headed for his room that he had been given.
Hmmm, I wonder what's with him. I shook it off as I turned to look inside of my quarters. The floor was made of intertwinded red coral with a large seaweed bed in front of a stain glass window that allowed me to see the whole palace and the villages surrounding it, I was so far up I could be sworn I could see Minor king harpies castle from here. The room was truly elegant, but subtle at the same time. Exhasted, I lay back into the bed and close my eyes.
~~~
About an hour later I wake up and it's a little darker outside than it was before.
thoughts came rushing to my head about the moments before I had entered my room. About the guard mentioning something about a queen.  My mind raced. A queen? Had my father cheated and had an affair with my mother? Or had he married afterwards? Either way I didn't know what to think about the situation. Didn't he say that she was across the hall?
Yes, I think that's right. Maybe I could go over and introduce myself. Maybe she would want to meet her step daughter.
I got up from my bed and decided to head over to what I thought was her room. When I was in front of the door, I could hear talking. Instead of knocking, I decided to listen. A bad habit I picked up.
"So it seems as if Sandy has failed to accomplish our mission, and now the little brat first born is still alive. Looks like we'll  have to find another way won't we ?"
