The Mermaid's Crowning(Book Two )

Chapter three

"Daughter? "
"Father?"
Every one seemed to be breathless in the room, partly because they actualy were...breathless. I could feel everyone back away from the both of us. Even the police backed away and took the cuffs off of me and Gilmore.
"How?" He stuttered.
I stood amazed, partly because of what I said and how I said it. Also because I was standing in front of my real father that I had never met before.
"My question is, how would you know I am your daughter?"
He came a little closer to me and pointed toward my tail.
"Only Royal mermaids are born with the ability of changing tail color."
I stared at this figure, this muscular in charge figure that was my father. It seemed as old age had snuck up apon him. He had white flowing hair and blue eyes that seemed to change . Something that I hadnt noticed before about him was his tail. In all suprise, it was rainbow like mine.
I'm all suddenness he hugged me tightly and knocked the wind out of me.
At first I didn't hug him back, but then I wrapped my arms around him.
When the hug departed, we were left looking at eachother.
"It's been so so long pearl...."
"Pearl......?"
"Yes, that was your born name. "
I like pearl but I would have rather been called Britt, because that's what I've been called my whole life.
"Um....just call me Britt please. "
"Whatever you want my daughter, anything ."
Then king Pacific.......my father I mean, turned around to the rest of the people.
"King Harpy, I'm sorry to say, but the ball will have to be cancled, due to the fact that my daughter has been found."
"But king Pacific , we've been preparing for months. "
" No buts, this is way more important than a silly ball. For Posidens sake, my daughter has returned!"
Everyone flooded out of the room leaving only me and my father.
"Would you like to come home my daughter."
I didn't have much choice did I?

"I....um....don't really have any where else to go really. But only if my friend Gilmore can come along."
He took this into consideration and sighed.
"Of course britt, anything." He started to swim toward the door, I swam along with him.
"I'm going to be taking you to the main palace where I live."

My heart thudded in the water and if I could I would be sweating right now. I quickly swam up to his side as we left the throne room.

I thought to myself. Even though he had reunited with me and hugged me and there seemed to be alot of emotion, there was something off. I swam next to him and looked up at his face. There was a smile apon it, but it didn't look real. It looked for show, as if he had been used to a stone cold steel face. There was still so much that I didnt know about him. Once we were out of the doors, he pointed to Gilmore and th guards holding him undid his cuffs. Once that was done he didn't know what to do, so I motioned him to come over to me.
His eyes glanced over me and seemed to have been giving a whole new opinion in me because he now knew that I was royalty for real now. I didnt ask for the whole royalty thing. I'd much more have a regular life under the sea, well as normal as being a mermaid can get. I could feel my......father's glance on me. I could glance a smile also. So I looked up at him and smiled too. He slipped his ginormous hand around my waste and lead me out of the castle and out to the fresh water outside. Behind us followed numerous guards.
My mind was boggled about what was going on. I was finaly expiriancing the moment of meeting my real father , after so many years of not even knowing he existed, or that he was my real father apposed to the one I had thought was all along.
And now, while I'm in the moment , something felt off. I felt like I should be more excited for this, but I wasn't.
Don't get me wrong, I was extremely over whelmed and happy, but I was worried what was to come. If I was a daughter of a king, that deffinitaly meant I had alot of enemies .

Don't worry my dear pearl, everything will be alright. I won't let anything happen to you, and I won let you go, not this time.

A soft voice whispered in my head. There was no one around me that was talking, other than the guards and other mermaids swimming around in the excitement.
"How? What was that ?" I wondered.

I heard a small chuckle from my father next to me. He leaned down to my head, and said something in my ear.
"You're not the only one who can read minds, and send messages ."

I swam along side of him with no words to say. So I didnt say any words. Mostly because if he can read minds like I can , he would already know what I would say, which could get a little annoying if I want to keep things personal and to myself.
He chuckled again.

Don't worry , I won't invaid your privacy.

I smiled and hoped that, that was the truth .
Gilmore was now along side me, on the other side in which my father wasn't.
Father.....
That's going to take some getting used to....

I had almost gotten lost in my thoughts that I didn't even realize that we were already outside of the palace. Cold currents whirled around us, as well as several guards trying to make a formation, but were just swimming right into each other.
Several other mermaids' and mermens' thoughts entered my mind.

Is this real?

Hey ! Get out of the way! Let me see her!

Wow, she looks nothing like her father....ther than the tail.....

I can't beleive this is actually happening ......where has she been all of these years?

There was so many it was hard to listen to them, so I timed them out of my head.

Another thought entered my head....that it was extremely colder that It had been earlier. My scales on my tail shivered as well as goosebumps riseing on my skin.
Most mermaids and mermen were used to the cooler waters with fridged tempratures because they had lived here all of their lives, but me, I wasn't because I had spent most of my time in the warm Californian beaches.
Interuppting my thoughts, there was a sudden little flash that came from my father, that also came with the warmthening of the water around me.
I looked at him with amazement, but that soon faded since I really shouldn't be suprised by anything anymore, considering I'm a freaking mermaid with mind reading powers.
I smiled at him and said, " Thanks, nice trick."
He smiled and then looked away again.
Suddenly I found ourselfs in front of a wonderfull cairrage pulled by white sea horses with golden hair.
And when I said sea horses, I quite literally meant horses with mermaid tails.
That wasn't what just amazed me, the cairrage was so pearly white that it seemed as if the whole thing had been carved out of pearls. The wheels were made out of what looked like gold.
I swam there transfixed on the whole thing.
" ladies first ."I looked up to find my father and Gilmore holding open the door to the cairrage.
I smiled and my cheeks filled with blush. I swam to the inside of the cairrage with Gilmore and my father following after me.
The inside of the cairrage was even more magnificent that the outside. The seats were lush and a light lavender color that made it look like the shells on Ariels bra or something. There were curtens that matched the color of the seats, that were embroider in pearls on the endges, to cover the windows of the cairrage.
Once all of us were insida of the cairrage, the door was closed and the drivers set off at a stead pace. My father was sitting across from me and Gilmore had chosen to sit next to me.
"It's gonna take quite some time to reach the palace, fair warning. " my father said.
I'm all honesty my father looked to old to be my father, he looks as if he could be my grand father. His beard was the color of salt and pepper , with his hair in his head a pure white color. His tail was the only thing that seemed to give him a younger appearance , the bright rainbow colors were as vibrant as mine were.
I looked into his blue eyes which seemed darker than what they had been before, maybe that was because of the lighting. He coughed to clear his throught, he was looking at me with as much interest as I had been giving him.
"So.......please tell me who you are? Who has my daughter grown up to be?"
