Bobby’s POV

“There she is, she’s number 8” Oscar pointed out Iris, his best friend, to me.

I spotted her almost immediately, long flowing chocolate brown hair, tied up into a high ponytail but somehow still reaching the middle off her back, smooth tan skin, almost glowing in the light provided by the flood lights. High defined cheek bones and full plump lips. She was beautiful. She only looked about 5”2 or 3, but she was powering in front of everyone, a look of determination plastered on her face.

I couldn’t help but cheer with Oscar when she finished in first place.

….Waiting for Iris….

“So” Emily started “do you have a girlfriend?”

“No actually” my mind drifted to Iris “Not at the moment anyway.”

I had only just met Emily and Trish, Iris’ two friends, but I already know that Emily is very nosey and Trish is very quiet, seeing as Emily and I have been conversing for about 10 minutes but Trish hasn’t said a word.

“Iris Falconi” Oscar shouted gaining my attention “The Senior Girls 800m Champion”

I whooped and hollered along with everyone else as Iris stood on the steps a blush colouring her tan cheeks.

She ran down the steps towards Oscar as he enveloped her into a hug.

“You like her don’t you?” Trish spoke for the first time

“Yeah, well of course. She seems like a nice girl.” I shrugged, trying to act unaffected by this question but I could already feel my palms getting sweaty.

“No Stupid, not like that. As in like her, like her?” she interrogated me.

“What? No? I haven’t even spoken to her yet.” I bit back, avoiding eye contact as my voice raised a few octaves.

“Yeah right” both Emily and Trish muttered in unison.

I rolled my eyes and turned my head abruptly as I heard my name in Oscars and Iris’ conversation

“Awesome right?!” Oscar stated

I made my way over, my smile growing as I get closer to Iris.

I held out my hand whilst looking into Iris’ wonderful blue orbs.

“Hi Iris? I’m Bobby. Nice to meet you.”

She shook my hand and said “Hiya, nice to meet you too.”

“So Stinky” she said addressing Oscar “I better be off, it has been a long day”

“Oh no you’re not, we are all going back to mine for a house party to celebrate your victory!!” he cheered

“I’d rather not” she said rolling her eyes

“Come on it’ll be fun!” I encouraged her

“Go on then. I won’t stay long though”

“Whoop! Come on then let’s get going!” Oscar exclaimed

So we were making our way back to Oscars when Iris slowed down and started walking with me at the back of the large group.

“Hey” she said playfully.

“Hiya” I replied

“You been to Oscar’s before?” she questioned

I nodded “Yeah, I’m staying there actually. I’ve come down from London, hoping to find a place down here” I said nonchalantly

“Found anywhere yet?”

“Yeah actually, I found an apartment in the York Building down on Tismead Avenue,  moving in on Tuesd-”

“NO WAY!!” she gasps “That’s my building!! I live there! What floor? What number?” she interrogated

“What a coincidence. Floor 4 apartment 6.”

She suddenly stopped walking, causing me to turn back around confused. She stood there her eyes wide and mouth open.

“What is it? What’s wrong?” I asked concerned

“Floor 4 apartment 9, your door is right in front of mine” she squealed her voice oozed excitement.

To say I was happy was a major understatement. I was elated. Living practically metres away from a gorgeous girl.

“Awesome!” we high fived whilst laughing like maniacs “At least I’ll know someone”

“I can’t wait” she mused quietly.

As she said this I couldn’t help but feel my heart beat faster.
