Alex's POV
The first day of school was always exciting for Alex. But today felt different. Not only was it his first day of American school, but it was his first day of middle school. He had made only one friend over the summer and his name was Gilbert. He preferred to be called Lafayette though. Once Alex found out Laf could speak French, they immediately clicked. Lafayette said he would introduce him to his friends, but Alex was worried they wouldn't get along. What if they hated him? Or worse, what if they hated school? But Laf didn't seem to worry. He said Alex would especially like John Laurens. He wondered what was so cool about this John guy. He shook his head and continued walking to school. He was wearing a beanie, and his long black hair was down. Once he got there, he put his bag in his locker. Having a locker was so cool, it was like a giant personal safe. He then proceeded to decorate it with puppies. But those were small so people wouldn't call him a girl. Then he had his schedule and a hanger for his bag and coat. He slung his bag off over his shoulder and put it on the hook. Then Laf tapped his shoulder."Alexander!" His voice was jubilant and he sounded like an excited French dog.
"Laf!" Alex responded with the same emotion. After much rejoicing, Lafayette brought Alex into his homeroom class, Mr. Washington.
"Well have fun, mon ami. I'm off to Mr. Frederick. King George, the older kids call him," Laf waves and walks away.
Alex looked around the classroom. He saw two people he recognized from Lafayettes pictures. They must be John and Mulligan. Mulligan looked older than 11. He had a muscular build, but somehow he seemed like he wouldn't hurt a fly.
"Attention class," A voice, Mr. Washington, calls. "We have a new student who has recently arrived from the Caribbean to be with us. His name is Alexander, and he should be treated with as much respect as anyone else. Would you like to introduce yourself, son?"
Alex flinched. He hated being called son. "Don't call me son." He mumbled and nodded, walking up to the front of the class. "My name is Alexander Hamilton, but you can call me Alex. Uh, I speak French and I'm from the Caribbean, a-" He was interrupted by the door opening. A boy with poofy hair walked in, making finger guns at Mr. Washington.
"What'd I miss?" He asks with a smirk. Mr. Washington shakes his head.
"Just sit down, Thomas. You can continue, Son." He said calmly.
"I'm not your son." Alex mumbled again. "Um, my best friend is Lafayette, and uh-" He was interrupted by Thomas again, this time snickering with a boy who was oddly close to him.
"He's friends with that queer." He whispered. But Alex heard him and frowned. He walked over to Thomas and the boy.
"Excuse me for this, Mr. Washington. But nobody makes fun of my friends." Alex said with an innocent smile. After winning a confused look, he proceeded to punch Thomas, square in the face. He noticed a look of admiration from who seemed to be Laurens, and a girl with curly brown hair. Then he noticed the girl next to her. Sleek black hair. Nice blue shirt. He smiled shyly at her and waved, before being ushered to the principals office.
Angie's POV
Angelica watched in awe as the new kid flat out punched Thomas. According to everyone, Thomas was one of the coolest kids in their grade, but Angie always thought he was too arrogant for his own good. As if to break her thoughts, Eliza spoke."Hey. This ones mine," She whispered to Angie, Nodding at Hamilton. Angelica frowned. She should've called him sooner. When she turned to Eliza, she smiled.
"If you really love me you would share him," She said with a smirk.
"Ha!" Eliza laughed.
Mr. Washington cleared his throat. "Anyway class, homeroom ends soon, but revolutionary war today!" He announced, silencing all conversation. The dumbfounded look on John's face disappeared into a grin as war was mentioned. The bell rang, but most of the class stayed for history.
The fabulous, handsome, intelligent Aaron Burr strolled in. He was predicted to be our valedictorian and we were only in 6th grade. If that didn't show intelligence, then Angie didn't know what did. Lafayette entered the room. The Frenchman. Stunningly handsome at just a young age. Too bad he wasn't straight or he would be Angelica's. Alex walked in shortly after. She sighed dreamily as he winked at Angelica and Eliza. Alex found a seat next to Laf, and they whispered things that Angelica couldn't hear. Laf giggled as Alex whispered. Angie wanted to know why, but then Mr. Washington started his lesson. Everyone was highly invested in the war. When the bell rang, everyone groaned and gathered up their stuff.
Eliza stood with Angelica."Guess who was staring at you again," Eliza teased.
"Herc? Again? Really?" Angelica asked Eliza. She nodded and giggled.
They both sighed and headed off to their next class. Art. Angelica stopped at her locker, as did Eliza, and they dropped off their history book and supplies. Angie grabbed a pencil and sketchbook. Eliza flattened out the skirt of her dress and grabbed her sketchbook sketchbook as well. A pencil had been stuffed in the rings of it. Angelica slammed her locker shut. She grabbed Eliza's hand and started to drag her towards her favorite subject, art, with King George- Mr. Frederick. Eliza shut her locker while being dragged away.
"Angelica. Chill out. Running isn't gonna start class any sooner." She protested, still being dragged against her will down the hallway. "Angelica. Slow down!"
"I have to beat Herc. We have a war going on. I need to win." She explained, still dragging Eliza down the hall. "Pick up the pace, or I loose the war."
Eliza started running beside her, no longer fighting Angelica's grip. They slowed down to catch their breath. They were still m far from art seeing as running across the school wasn't a good idea.
The new kid walked up to them."Um. Hey. Not to bother you, but can you guys help me find art?" Alex asked sheepishly.
Angelica smiled. "Of course. We are headed there now. By the way I'm Angelica. But you can call me Angie."
"I'm Eliza." Eliza piped in. "Oh and if you're traveling with us you might have to run. Angie's trying to win a war."
Alex raised a brow before Angelica grabbed both their wrists and hauled them down the hallway. Alexander quickly found his way into perfect sync with Angie's running. Eliza was a little slower but kept up fine. They rounded a corner and finally ended at art to find Mulligan waiting for them. His back leaned against the wall.
"Oh hello Ang." He greeted. "El, Alex."
"Hello Herc. I see you've beaten me here once again." Angie said. "How do you do it?"
"A magician never reveals his secret." Herc smirked. Alex and Eliza exchanged a confused look before returning to watch OTP's love start to grow.
John's POV
Alex had done it. He'd stolen John's heart on the first day of sixth grade. After sort of standing up to Washington, knowing the language of love, and punching the meanest kid in the grade, John realized that he wanted Alex to be his. Too bad Eliza claimed him first. Oh well. He'd find a way. When he got to art, he noticed Angelica sitting with a saddened expression while Hercules made faces at her. "Did you win again Herc?" John asked. He was just waiting for Hercelica to become a thing. Obviously Mulligan liked her, but Angie seemed to also be caught Alex. So did Maria. And obviously Eliza and John. And every other girl. Gosh was Alex a Lady Killer. And a man killer."Yeah. Oh uh, Angie, don't be sad. I uh.. I drew you this picture," Mulligan gave her a picture of a girl with fashionable clothes- Herc loved fashion. It was a really great drawing. "It's uh.. it's you," he smiled at her.
"Thank You Hercules! It's beautiful. I'm gonna hang it on my wall." Angie grinned up at him. Just then, Thomas walked in. He glared at Alex, who was right next to Eliza. John frowned at him and walked to Alex.
"Hey Alex, I'm John. Laf told me about you. Ready for class with the king?" John laughed and pointed to Mr. Frederick.
Alex nodded and smiled at him. "Yeah, he seems like a good guy," He claimed. John shook his head and let class begin.
