Chapter 3

I wake up in a weird position with the poor laptop somewhere tangled in the bed sheets and a crumpled paper in my hand. My prosecutor skills started to kick in as I've been stalking the guy from the gym so I ended up having a full information form. I know, weird.

But it turns out his name is Gareth Andrews or Reth "The Reaper" Andrews (pfffft what a crappy name) and according to the newspapers he's fucking undefeated in the last five years. Why am I struggling to get information about him...I don't know but there's something about this guy that drowns me to him...maybe in a friendly way...or maybe not.

My phone rings making me jump like a little girl. Girl, get a hold of yourself.

"Havana Shepard,"

"I know who you are, bitch," my best friend's voice completely wakes me up from my sleepy mode.

"Sorry I'm used to saying this when I'm working," I giggle making Sasha huff.

"Where the hell are you?"

"I'm home. Boss forced me to go on holiday," I roll my eyes. What kind of boss forces their employee to go on a holiday? Seriously?!

"And I guess you're packing for your amazing and unplanned holiday,"

"Cut the sarcasm off, Sasha. I'm just going to stay home for a while. Maybe I'm going to clean my apartment since it looks like World War II took place in here,"

"You're going to leave me alone with Gina. Are you serious? Without you I'm going to pull her hair out in the firs ten minutes!" Sasha seems desperate but yeah, Sasha is the type of girl who turns everything into a drama. Even choosing the right fucking pen.

"You are going to survive, Sash, just ignore her," I hope this works with my best friend because with me it doesn't. Gina keeps throwing herself in my face making me really pissed, but I can control my anger. With Sasha it's a whole different story. Everyone calls her The Viper because she gets what she wants. Everytime. And she eventually destroys everything in her way. Everything.

"She's here. Holly crackers ! What is she wearing? I can't stay near someone who dresses up like a hydrant. She's completely dressed in red! Even her hair has red in it! I'm dying!" I roll my eyes even if she can't see my reaction. Let Sasha start a fashion rebellion and you're dead.

"Ok Sash, gotta go. We can watch a movie tomorrow night. If you survive with The Hydrant."

"I hope a dog pees on her leg," she snorts ending the call.

I keep chuckling while I go in my walk-in closet. I'm going at the gym tonight. Not because I want to work out but to check if Gareth gave Kyle the keys. What should I wear? I can't wear something elegant because it's a damn gym. But I can't wear gym clothes either because I don't want to give the impression I'm there to work out. Maybe a pair of jeans and a fitted tee would do it. And maybe a little bit of make up. Just a little bit.

The rest of the day goes really quickly. Cleaning my room was a real challenge since papers and clothes and computer wires were mixed and tangled and blaaagh.

At eight thirty I get out of the house. If my statistics are right I should be there at nine. Exactly like yesterday and I won't seem very desperate. Sounds like a good plan to me.

I'm surprised to see that the gym is damn packed today. Packed with huge hulking men. The scary kind. I try to pass through them without catching anyone's attention. I'm the only female in there, what the fuck.

When I get near Kyle's information desk I see the octagonal ring and two men fighting in it. Ungh. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to come here after all.

"Can I help you?" I hear the deep voice that polluted my mind since last night. He is sitting in Kyle's office chair reading a book without glancing at me.

"Uhm...I'm here to talk to Kyle." He suddenly looks at me and narrows his eyes.

"If you're here to ask about the keys I did give them back. He called me at five in the morning just to remind me," whoa! I didn't know he could talk so much since last night out conversation was more like a starring contest.

"I'm sorry," I mumble looking anywhere but at the huge guy next to me.

"What are you doing here?" Gareth's green eyes are piercing my soul making me say the truth. He could be a good lawyer.

"I am here to check if you gave him the keys," I sigh in a defeated manner " anyway what's happening here?"

"It's a rookie tournament. Every hot headed shit head came her to fight," he says looking at the fighting guys with a grim expression.

"Why are you here?" I play the stupid card. I want to make him think I don't know anything about him.

"Sometimes those guys can't make a connection between the brain and the fist so I'm here to help them make it," he's trying to hide his smile by returning to his book.

As I keep starring utterly astonished by the fights my phone buzzes in my pocket. I hate this damn phone.

That's not the right place for a lady. Come out.

I stare at the screen, my blood draining from my face. Is this really happening to me? This guy can't be joking since he knows where I actually am. But still this is damn stupid. Why would somebody stalk me?

"Are you ok?" Gareth glances towards me looking like he genuinely wants to know. It must be because of my pale face or shocked expression. I bet he thinks I'm one of those chicks who get scared of blood.

"Yeah, those fights are really fierce ," I force a smile as I stare a the cage. He doesn't look convinced at all by my response.

I glance one more time at Gareth before sighing silently. I gotta jet before I do something stupid like inviting him to have dinner with me or something. Ungh.

"Leaving already?" He asks without bothering to look up from his book. What's so interesting about it?

"Yeah, I'll see you around I guess," I head towards the entrance when I hear his chair moving.

"I'll accompany you," he rolls his eyes probably at the word 'accompany'. It does sound weird coming out from his mouth.

We walk in silence and by the time we exit the building I see a car getting out of the parking lot and disappearing in the darkness. What if that car belonged to the guy is stalking me? Fuck.

"Thank for being a gentleman," I say while me voice trembles a little bit.

"You don't seem to be ok," Gareth narrows his beautiful green eyes at me and I sigh. I can't tell me about my problems.

Before I can give a response to his assumption my phone buzzes again. This time when I look at the screen cold chills run down my spine.

You'd better get rid of him.
