Well high school isn't what you might expect. You prepare yourself throughout middle school, hoping that you just might be able to do enough research on the topic to fit in. You watch stereotypical movies, you read the books, and you even try to become friends with the ones that are already there. Though, once you actually get there, you see there isn't really a point to all the hype. Everything you watched and read all goes down the drain as you walk the halls of your high-school for the first time. You were just the top dog in the middle-school and you're positive that, that isn't going to change. Well, wipe that smile off your face princess, because you're about to be dethroned.

You watch as the upperclassmen start claiming what freshmen they want in their groups, like they're items to be possessed. And suddenly, you are left alone with the others that weren't good enough. It's lunch time and all your friends have left you for the "cooler", more popular cliques. Even your best-friend Alex, that you've known since you got here in elementary, leaves. So much for conquering this year together, right?

A couple months pass and none of your friends have spoken to you since. It's not like you don't try to start a conversation, you text and occasionally call  but never get a response. Alex had invited you here and there to parties, but you know he didn't really mean he wanted you there. So, you never bothered going. Its not like anyone would have noticed you anyways.

You're about to go out to the movies with your parents when you get call from one of the three contacts in your phone, Alex. He sounds genuinely pleased to be having a conversation with you. He invites you to a party at his house tonight. You hear his hormonal friends in the background laughing and you're not sure if they find it amusing that you might consider going or the fact the he even asked you to begin with. You stutter, unsure of how to respond to this when your mother asks who you're talking to. You tell her its just Alex and you see her face light up with joy that maybe you guys are friends again. She quickly lets your dad know that you will be gone all night to stay with Alex. Alex overhears and says he'll be over in 10, before ending the call. You rush upstairs to get ready, it actually seems like he wants you to go to this one.
