"Did you know a normal human spine has thirty-three vertebrae?"

   Serenity blinked. "Uh. What?"

Jax sat up and shrugged. "If the bones that form the coccyx are counted individually, there are thirty-three vertebrae."

"Okay ..." Serenity shifted over and poked the younger agent's side. "Is there a reason you decided I needed to know that?"

"Eh, not particularly. Just. Something I remember reading. I would've said it whether it was you next to me or a total stranger." They shrugged again, reaching back to tug on Serenity's hair. "Thirty-three is also the atomic number of arsenic."

Huffing a laugh, Serenity settled in for a long night. "Lay back again and spout all the facts about the number you know. Maybe then you'll be able to sleep."
