Red rear lights
White painted stripes
A black road
A black sky
A black mind
Driving to escape
Losing herself in the blurry landscape
Radio turned up as loud as it can
To banish thoughts but then it began
It crawled and slithered and fought to get in
To find a space and be heard among the din
It wormed it's way inside her mind
Teeth and claws latched down, leaving good thoughts behind
Wind howling
Dark thoughts prowling
One slips inside
One makes it in and changes everything
White knuckles on steering wheels do they cling
A sharp left
A hard right
She could pull the steering wheel
She jerks her hands and the wheels begin to squeal
The black car hit the barricade
No one would come to her aid
The dark shadowy slither of doubt
Having done its job, creeped out
A black mind
A black car
White painted stripes
No longer are there red rear lights
No longer does a brilliant mind walk the earth
Instead, a horrible secret was unearthed
