The car slowed down, gravel spitting off the ground. I glanced out the window; the neighbourhood looked very welcoming and lively, I could see a fairly old lady watering her front garden and a young man sitting on a bench reading a magazine. The houses were neat and tidy some were pastel yellow and some were a calm baby blue. There was a lot of greenery and flowers, I wasn't used to this as I had been living in a city for the past few years but somehow I seemed to like it and it made me happy. The neighbourhood reminded me a bit of an old fashioned village, where everyone would be friends and interact with each other. There were a few cars aligned next to the houses, most of them clean and shiny, except for this one car. It looked pretty rusty but also very used, there were scratches and dents all over it. It looked like one of those cars you would see at a dump, I looked around but there was no house next to that car just an old fence which led to somewhere. I looked closer at the fence and to the path which trailed behind it, when suddenly it went all dark. I fell backwards as I saw my dad waving through my window, telling me to get out. I calmed down and picked up my bag, which lay on the seat next to me.
I exited the car and took a deep breath of fresh air, it was pure and cool but somehow I felt nervous, as if something was just telling me to go back home, back to my comfort zone. I had one more glance at the fence when a lovely woman came up to me.
''Welcome, I guess you must be the new family. Do you want a cookie?'' The lady said with a kind voice. She was wearing a pink flowery dress with lace edges. Her blonde locks tumbled down her shapely shoulders, and as she turned, rays of golden sun caught and shimmered in her soft curls. Eyes like pools of emerald, deep and inviting, they were a stark contrast against the beige of her hair. She had an oval shaped flawless face, her skin was olive smooth and her nose was a perfect shape, slightly sloped upward. She had a natural beauty, the kind you get without make up. She had long lashes that even curled upward, her eyebrows were a perfect arch shape and her smile looked friendly, revealing her pearly white teeth. I stuttered and gave a quick smile.
''Yes we are new. I'm Stephanie but call me Steph,'' I said taking the plate of cookies from the lady. "Thank you for the cookies, I'm sure you can talk with my parents once they have unloaded the car.''
''Ok, by the way I'm Mrs. Candorth and it was very nice meeting you and I'll see you later then. Goodbye.'' Mrs. Candorth waved and strutted away with her blonde locks bouncing behind her.
