Chapter One
~Tris~
The pain.
That's all I could feel when the bullet was released from David's gun.
I had successfully released the memory serum, but had not successfully dodged the bullet.
I laid there bleeding out, I felt something, my mother looked at me. I wasn't ready to die, I couldn't leave Tobias or Christina or Caleb. They needed me and I needed them. I fought death. I practically laughed in it's face. I painfully got up and hobbled out of the lab and got collapsed into Caleb's arms.
"Tris!" He yelled as he picked me up and started to run.
I don't know what happened after that because I went unconscious.
I woke up in a hospital bed. I was probably in the infirmary. I looked around and saw Tobias, my handsome Tobias.
"Tobias..." I whispered.
"Oh my god Tris!" He exclaimed as he came to my bedside and hugged me gently.
"What happened?" I asked as I nudged further into his embrace.
"You were shot, in the chest. Doctors didn't think you would survive, but I told them that you don't die easily. You have been unconscious for two weeks now." Tobias explained to me.
I nodded slowly trying to soak all of the information in.
"Uriah? Is he alright?" I ask frantically.
Tobias only stared down at my hand and squeezed it tightly.
"Uriah...he died...about a week ago while you were still unconscious..." He says slowly.
All I can do is cry. Uriah was my friend and to think that he was now pale and cold and most of all dead.
Tobias soothed me and then told me I needed to continue to rest. I agreed and immediately drifted into a deep sleep.
