Failing in Love

Chapter Two: EARLY WEEKEND

5:30 am, Friday

Lennox's house, Miami Florida

My house was a very short distance away from St. Peter's, my school.

There was honestly no ethical reason to be up this early, but I love taking my time in the morning.

It was also my job to wake Nick up every day for school.

I ran a hand through my thick hair as I trudged through down the steps.

I opened the front door and I felt the biting morning cold.

5 am was 5am, even in Florida.

I ran back in and grabbed my dad's sweatshirt.

And, just incase Nick's fellow early bird mother-who let me call her Heather- wasn't home, my keys to his house.

They weren't exactly mine, because I stole them form Nick when I was mad at him.

It was hilarious to see his semi-harsh Italian dad freak out on him.

Quin and I call him MAFIA MAN. (Behind his back, of course)

I walked across to his house and unlocked the door to his big house.

His house was bigger than mine, and everyone else's in the neighborhood's, which was odd. Usually, the houses in one area looked a like.

But I went in all the same.

Nick was a snob, but he wasn't a snob about the traditional shit, ya know?

Heather wasn't home, so I decided to just watch TV until it was actually time for him to get up.

I switched on AMTV and I must've fallen asleep when someone like you by adele came on.

The next thing I felt was the couch dipping beside me.

I rubbed my eyes.

"Oh, hey Nick," I mumbled sleepily.

"Sup Len."

"Ready for school," my eyes lingered on him.

He was wearing his polo with his tie slung loosely around his neck, untied.

His dark hair was ruffled perfectly, and his full red lips were in a smug smile.

"Are you?"

I looked down. "Crap! Excuse my french."

'We laughed.

He flipped the channel to food network.

I rolled my eyes, then lifted my wrist before realizing i didn't have my watch on.

"10:30."

There was a beat of silence.

I jumped off the sofa and ran to my house.

"Shit," I whined.

"What," he wondered innocently.

"I'm locked out of my own house, that's what."

I made one last useless bang on the door.

He chuckled.

I leaned against the door and shrunk down.

"This is funny, right?"

"In compression to all the other weird things you do, this is hilarious."
