Stavo tilted his head towards the sky while clenching his eyes shut to keep the tears away.
His head shook side to side as he screamed, "This isn't fair!"
He wiped the tears from his face with his muddy hands and slowly rose to a standing position. He looked around and noticed the full moon shining over the graveyard, lighting the gravestones just enough to see what they had written on them.
As rain began to fall from above, Stavo sat back down quickly and pulled his backpack off of his shoulders and in front of him. He zipped open the small pocket from the outside and pulled out his phone.
He wiped the rain off of his screen with his sweatshirt and then tapped on the camera icon. After snapping a quick picture, Stavo threw his phone back into the pocket and zipped it shut.
Lightning flashed in the distance and for a second it lit up the entire cemetery.
"I miss you, I miss you so much."
He bent down in front of the grave, pulling a letter out of his front pocket and placing it on the ground in front of the stone.
The letter was folded in half but the header on the outside read:
My dear friend Eli.
Stavo turned away and started making his way towards the cemetery exit.
With his fists clenched, head shaking side to side, and his eyes filled with tears, he repeated the same phrase over and over:
"This isn't done yet."
---
The full moon was shining into a dimly lit kitchen, where a familiar voice was heard-
"No... I know." Maggie responded to the voice on the phone
"Yes Emma, I know that was two years ago, but still... I can't shake the feeling that it isn't over. I know I'm probably being paranoid but-" Maggie stopped as the voice over the phone interjected.
Maggie lets out a deep sigh before responding, "A mother can't help but worry."A crack of thunder jolted the floorboards throughout the house.
"It's getting late Emma, I've got to go. I'm working a long shift tomorrow and can't afford to miss any sleep. Be safe in this storm, it's getting bad out there. Oh, and remember you're only two hours away if you ever need me to bring you anything. Goodnight, I love you."
Maggie set the phone on the kitchen counter as she walked into the living room where a movie was playing; Night of the Living Dead. "How appropriate," Maggie chuckled while turning it off, not noticing the reflection of a dark shadow in the television.
She took one last stroll through the house before heading up the stairs. Almost to the top of the staircase, Maggie heard a large gust of wind blow the sitting chair on the front porch over. She turned around to walk back down the stairs and out to the porch to bring the chair inside for the night so she wouldn't have to hear it fall over again.
Just as she was about to open the front door her phone started ringing.
Maggie paced over to the phone and picked it up, "Hello?"
A strange, disguised voice responded from the other line, "Hi Maggie... I'm back."
"This isn't funny anymore, I'm sick and tired of people calling my house and torturing my family with these jokes. What my daughter and her friends went through was real and vicious, so knock it off!"
Before the unknown caller could answer Maggie's outburst, Maggie grabbed a pair of scissors from the counter and cut the phone cord.
"About time I end all of these stupid prank calls."
