The Project

"Hi, welcome to the Grill. My name is Mackenzie and I'll be your waitress for tonight." I said cheerfully. I looked up from my pad and my smile dropped and formed into shock. Sat before me was the one and only Cameron Clarke, joined by the Jessica Wylder. She rolled her eyes and she flipped her perfect platinum blonde hair behind her shoulder.

"Correct me if I'm wrong," Cameron started, gaining my full attention "but I'm almost positive that the role of a waitress is to collect the orders." I felt my cheeks redden so I furrowed my eyebrows and focused back on the pad and pen.

"What can I get for you two tonight?" I all but whispered.

"Babe. You know what I want." Jessica sneered, too busy inspecting her perfectly manicured nails.

"Right. Can I have a plate of air accompanied with extra air?" He joked. I looked up and saw his signature carefree smirk plastered on his lips. I peeked at Jessica's reaction to see her mouth wide open.

"U-um, that's not on the menu I'm afraid." I tried, gaining both of their attentions.

"You're funny. What's your name?" Cameron asked, dragging his hands through his soft coffee brown hair. I cleared my throat and pointed to my name tag.

"It's still Mackenzie." He chuckled and looked down at his menu.

"Well, Mackenzie, I'll have a BBQ, bacon and cheese burger with extra fries. And a Coke." I scribbled down the order and showed a small smile. I looked at Jessica expectantly but she was still swapping glares with both me and him.

"Ugh, so fattening." She criticised, rolling her eyes. "I'll have a salad, no dressing, no sides. And a Diet Sprite." I scribbling down the rest of the order then relayed it back to them. Once I got confirmation, I scurried into the kitchen and gave the chef the order.

"Hey, James, do you mind maybe... making this order a priority? It's just, I'm afraid if there isn't any food out there soon, all hell will break loose."

"Why? Whose is the order?"

"Um, you know Jessica Wylder, right? What am I saying, of course you do - everyone does." He chuckled to himself then nodded.

"Coming right up."

"Thank you." I sighed then went on to their drinks. I went out then set them on the table, only receiving a scoff from her. "Uh, i-is everything okay?"

"No. Everything's not okay. I didn't want ice cubes. And I expected there to be a slice of lime and lemon. God, It's not like I expect everything." She complained.

"Right, sorry. I'll fix it right away." I said, panicked. I picked up her glass then all but sprinted in to the kitchen to fix the order. I took it back out and awaited her response. She took a sip then rolled her eyes.

"Whatever. It'll have to do."

"Uh, you're meals should be coming soon." I informed them whilst moving on to the next order. I sighed in relief as I saw a friendly looking family sit down.

"Hi, welcome to The Grill. My name's Mackenzie and I'll be your waitress for tonight." I received warm smiles then took their orders without any fuss. After returning to the kitchen, I picked up Cameron and Jessica's order then took it to them. "If there are any problems with your food, please let me know and I'll get it sorted for you as soon as I can." I informed them.

"Thanks, Mackenzie." Cameron said, flashing me a grin. I focused my attention on the food in front of them and as soon as I got Jessica's permission, left to serve some more customers.
