Terms and Conditions

➳➳➳

It had been a week since Cameron had approached me. A week of avoidance. Every time he noticed me I would slip into a crowd and hide. I know I could've just said no and gone back to being the invisible nobody I was but the possibility of talking to Wyatt kept me from deciding. Plus, if I declined his offer, Cameron would probably waltz up to his brother and blurt my secret.

"You know, you're going to have to talk to him sooner or later." Chloe said, popping her head out of her locker.

"No I don't. Avoiding everything is working perfectly." I mumbled, too busy making sure he was nowhere in sight.

"Look, it's just a stupid deal. All you need to do is hang out with him. What't the issue with that?"

"Um, maybe the fact that Jessica will almost certainly kill me for it?"

"But you've got his protection. Look, Em, just say yes. And don't forget that where you go I go so really you're doing this for me as well." I sighed and nodded my head. She had a point. Ever since I could remember, Chloe had always wanted to be one of the populars, and she probably would be one if it weren't for me dragging her down to my awkward social standard.

"Fine. I'll do it for you - not for him."

"Great. He's over there go talk to him." My eyes darted to where she was pointed and groaned.

"How did I not see him?!"

"You were too busy in your own personal bubble for you to notice anything. Now go." I nodded my head and she pushed me off. Cameron noticed me walking towards him and stopped talking to the boy beside him. I took in a deep breath then continued towards him.

"Fine. I'll do it." I sighed. The boy beside Cameron looked shocked at my sudden appearance.

"Uh, Cameron? Who's the chick?" I scoffed and crossed my arms.

"The chick? Really? You couldn't come up with a more creative derogatory word to describe a girl?"

"Cameron?" He chuckled to himself and pushed off the locker.

"Lloyd, this is Mackenzie. So you've finally stopped avoiding me, huh?"

"Yeah, okay I was avoiding you. But today's your lucky day as I decided - well, Chloe decided - that I should give you an answer. And that answer is fine." He grinned and faced his friend.

"See you later Lloyd. Got some business to attend to." He shot him a wink then pushed me in the direction of the exit. And with a squeal, I complied, walking faster to get away from him.

"Where are we going?" I asked as he over took me.

"To my car. Obviously."

"Right. How stupid of me not to know where we were going." I muttered to myself. I pushed open the door only to have it not budge an inch. I heard a chuckle behind me and felt my face heat up.

"It's a pull." I heard him laugh. With a sigh and a second attempt at opening the door, I stalked out into the car park. He easily over took me and led me to where his was parked.

"So... What exactly did you-"

"-get in." He said, walking to the drivers side.

"Wait, what? Why?"

"Because we have terms and conditions to lay down. And if this is gonna work, no one has to know about this little project. Okay? Not even your friend."
