Let's just hope that if I become an author for a living that I don't procrastinate this much, haha. Oh, and I'm going to say this now, this is NOT the last chapter, it's close but not the last. Just thought I'd tell you. Thanks again guys!)
It was rather easy to get through the CORE, they had left practically right after Chara's...event. There weren't many monsters around, and the ones that were around were easily avoidable, but Sans still seemed really on edge. His grip had tightened so much on Flowey's pot, that it looked as though either the pot or his own bones were going to break. He kept glancing around, as if he was half expecting something or someone to come jumping out of a wall. But once they were out of the CORE, he had visible calmed down.
The walk to Asgore was rather...tense, to say the least. Flowey kept moving around in his pot, a worried and uncertain look on his face. Chara had a look of both determination and hate on their face. Sans didn't show any emotion, but he felt as though he were just leading Frisk to their death. And Frisk stood next to Chara, grasping their hand with a look of uncertain determination. They were determined, but not...filled with determination. They were scared. Terrified. And had every right to be terrified, but they need that determination to be able to reset.
It didn't take long before they arrived at a grey house. Chara looked at the house in distress, their grip on Frisks hand tightening; to the point where their nails almost cut into Frisks skin. Flowey looked as though he were about to burst into tears, Sans looked pained, and Frisk...couldn't see a thing because of the flowers.
"Well," Chara breathed after a moment. "Here we are. You guys ready?" Frisk was concerned about why everyone seemed so...sad, but they nodded anyway.
"Ok then," Chara mumbled, tugging on Frisks hand a bit. "Let's go in." Sans and Flowey entered the house first, followed by Chara pulling Frisk in. As soon as they entered, Frisk heard a small gasp from Chara, and Flowey mumble, "It all looks the same."Chara gently tugged on Frisks hand and guided them to Chara's old room. They momentarily let go of Frisks hand and rummaged through some draws. Frisk could hear some cursing and mumbles of "Where is it?" coming from Chara, then a small hum as Chara's footsteps came closer. The feeling of something being placed around their neck caused Frisk to tilt their head in confusion.
"It's a golden, heart-shaped locket that I used to wear all the time. Azzy-I mean, Asriel had a matching one," Chara explained, recalling the memories fondly.Frisk brought their hand up to the heart and smiled, before signing 'Thank you' to Chara. Chara draped an arm over Frisks shoulders, leading them out of the bedroom and immediately heading towards the kitchen. Chara opened the fridge and...
"God dammit! No chocolate!" They sighed. There was a knock from the archway to the kitchen, Chara turned to see Sans.
"As much as I hate to interrupt this heartwarming return to the house you grew up in, and inevitably died in, I believe that we should get on our way." Sans turned and left. Chara frowned.
"Dick," they mumbled, before grabbing the key on the counter and leading Frisk out of the kitchen.Using the key that Chara grabbed from the kitchen, and the key Flowey had grabbed from the hall, they unlocked the padlock that kept them from entering the basement.
As they made their way down the stairs, Frisk had started to look at Chara...or as close as they could get to look at Chara with their lack of sight.
"So...this is where you grew up...and died?" Frisk asked in a small voice.
"Yep," Chara said as though it was nothing. "Man, I had so many good memories here with Azzy and the others." Frisk turned to face forwards again and nodded, before giving Chara's hand a small squeeze.
