The Other Soldier -A Bucky Fanfic-

Bait Me

Waiting. That was most of his job. Waiting. 
  At least he was waiting with her.
The feelings in his stomach seemed to be getting stronger with each memory.
 We were walking down an empty street at midnight, guns in hand and knives ready. 
There may have been no words, but they were speaking with their small actions. Like the shift of her hand on the left side of her gun.
  He's on the left.
Or the twitch of Winter's left eyebrow.
   He's all yours.
As fast as lightening The Killing Soldier had her gun pointed at the left alleyway and she was kneeling down for better stability. Winter was behind her in a matter of seconds, his gun ready and aimed above her head.
"James?"

    There she was. 
Her black hair pulled back into a braid. Her dull green eyes piercing through his skin. Her black leather clothes matched with gloves and a bandana over the bottom half of her face. The feet planted firmly on the top of a car. The gun in her hand, already aiming at their heads.
  "I'm taking the guess that's her," Tony mumbled, his gaze jumping from soldier to soldier. 
Bucky nodded, "yeah."
  "Well, that's just great."
"Call for Steve and the rest, I'll keep her from you for a while." He said, walking forwards, his gun now in his hands. Tony nodded, already talking into his suit.
  It's now or never, right?
"Kali?"
  Her grip on the gun tightened as her finger moved to the trigger.
That was the wrong move.
  "Am I your mission, Kali?" He tried, but he figured any approach was a bad one.
This time, Kali pulled the trigger. Bucky moved away just in time for the bullet to graze his shoulder.
  "Bucky!" It was Tony. He raised his arm and a single beam shot out of his hand, heading straight for her. She quickly jumped out of the way, landing gracefully on her feet beside the car. She took another shot, aiming it at Tony's head.The shot rang out as Tony flew up, the bullet missing his head.
  "Remember, Tony, we aren't trying to kill her." Bucky reminded him, running towards Kali.
"Right-O, Sergeant!" 
Bucky took a shot of his own, aiming for her leg. He shot, just in time with her jump. She dodged the bullet and came running for Bucky. Her gun was now in its holder around her leg. Bucky discarded his own gun and ran towards Kali. at arms length, Kali pulled back her arm and swung a punch at Bucky's face. He quickly raised his arms over his face, blocking the punch. He punched back into Kali's leg, but it did nothing. 
    Next thing her knew, Kali was in the air with Tony. She grabbed the knife from its holder on her leg and stabbed it into Tony's shoulder. It went through the suit, causing Tony  drop Kali from his hold. She fell to the ground, landing on her side. She barely made a noise. 
   Bucky looked behind him, seeing the rest of his friends running to the fight. 
Steve didn't even stop running, he just went straight for Kali. 
   He threw his shield at the rising figure. She caught the shield just in time and threw it to the side where it crashed with a car. Steve kept running and raised his arm for a punch. Kali raised her hand and caught his fist in her hand, twisting it. Steve tried with his other hand, only to have the same thing happen. Kali kicked her leg out to Steve's knee, making his knees buckle beneath him. She sent another kick to the side of his head, making him groan and fall. 
   

     Nat and Clint ran to her next, Clint with his bow ready. He shot an arrow at her, aiming for her shoulder. It hit, but it didn't slow her down. She ran towards them, knew knife in hand. She got to Nat first. Nat spun her leg in the air, aiming to kick Kali in the face, but Kali saw it coming and grabbed onto her leg, flipping her over and onto her stomach. She twisted an arm behind her back, earning a quiet groan from Nat. Clint came at her with his bow, but his fingers never left the string before Kali pulled out a gun and shot three rounds into him.
   "Clint!" Nat called, struggling under Kali's grip. The butt of Kali's gun fell down on Nat's head, silencing her. 
   Thor threw his hammer at her, hitting her stomach and sending her flying. Tony came down next to Thor , his repulser aimed at her from a distance.
"Bucky, she's your girl. Talk to her." Tony said, walking towards Kali, his repulser still raised. Bruce came and walked next to him, fixing his glasses.
  "I'm really glad I wasn't needed."
Bucky ignored them as he walked towards Kali. HIs mind was racing, what was he supposed to say? Tell her her full name? Tell her about her family? Her past? What did Steve do? 
  "Kali..." He said hesitantly, eyeing the gun in her holster. She blinked at him and continued to struggle under the hammer.
  "Kali Vossen, this isn't you." 
The twitch of an eye.
   "This is The Killing Soldier, a brainwashed slave. This is not who you are."
Nothing.
   "Kali, please. You have a brother and two moms, your brother lives in Brooklyn and-"
"Bucky?"
  "I'm talking."
"No, this is a bit more important."
  Bucky sighed and looked back, eyeing his three friends. 
"What?"
    "It's HYDRA."
Bucky's head snapped around again, seeing HYDRA agents in front of him.
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me."
  "James, how nice to see you again. It may not be in the best of circumstances, but a meeting is a meeting." One drawled, his accent heavy.
  "Who the hell are you?" Bucky snapped, his gaze flicking between HYDRA and Kali.
"That is not important, what's important is the state you put our Soldier in."
   "You sent her here, this is your fault. You did this to her!"
"Well yes, this was her mission. In fact, it was everyone's mission. Bring the whole team together with our soldier, make them feel as if they could be heroes and save the poor soldier." The man made a show of pouting.
   "What do you mean? I don't understand."
"Uh, Barnes? I think this has been a setup." Tony pointed out.
Bucky closed his eyes as he took a breath. Of course.
   "So you used Kali as bait?"
"Precisely. Same with the others.Bait."
Bucky couldn't control himself any longer and flung himself at the HYDRA agents. Without hesitation, all the agents sprang forward and caught Bucky before he could do anything drastic.
  In the blink of an eye, Bucky had a gun to his head and hands holding him back.
"As expected, James. Let's get you home, shall we?"
