put his favorite perfume on

today was the day lucas was taking maya to the movie and then the park.

lucas friar was never the type of person to take a girl out, especially on a date. but this wasn't a date, was it? he just liked a girl and now he's going out somewhere with her. not a date. definitely not a date.

last time lucas went on a date with a girl was three years ago with his ex-girlfriend. it took him a while to get over her since they were high school sweethearts, but nothing good ever lasts that long. all came to an end when his girlfriend was having an affair with his best friend. he was absolutely heartbroken. this time, he hopes it's different.

maya was at home getting ready for her night out with lucas. she couldn't stop wondering what this was all about. she couldn't help but think this was some kind of a date. she and lucas had gotten closer this past month or so. it's not like she never noticed that lucas would glance over at her at work...when she would glance over.

maya doesn't want to admit to herself that she might have feelings for lucas. she feels it, but she doesn't want it.

maya dressed up in a black slim dress, her back exposed. she looked in the mirror and she felt overdressed. she grabbed her phone and texted lucas.

maya: what are you wearing? i don't want to be overdressed or underdressed...

lucas: sounds like a girl-going-on-a-date problem. ;)

maya: you're annoying. just tell me.

lucas: tux.

maya: really?

lucas: yes, really.

maya: alright. overdressed it is.

lucas: boo-hoo. dress nice.

maya: maybe i'll skip out.

lucas: if you dare do that, i will unfollow you on instagram.

maya: shoot. i need those followers.

lucas: that's what i thought.

maya laughed at their conversation. she stayed in the dress she was already wearing. she went into her closet to find a pair of black wedges. she puts them on her feet and heads to her living room, where she waits for lucas.

maya: should i eat before?

lucas: what kind of outgoing is this if i don't buy you something to eat.

maya: okay, chill.

lucas: never.

maya placed her phone down onto her couch and turned the television on.

after what seemed like five hours, but really it was only two, the doorbell had rung, signalling that lucas had arrived. maya had gotten up from the couch and made her way to the door. she opened it and there stood lucas friar where that damn tux that made him look amazing.

"hello maya," lucas had said, pulling from his back a bouquet of roses, "these are for you."

maya tried to keep her heart in order, "something a boy-on-a-date would do," she smirked and took the flowers.

she went into her kitchen and put the roses in a vase. she walked back to lucas, "you ready?"

"ready as i'll ever be."
