It was later in the day, and Tyler and Josh had spent the past few hours together.

"So, do you know how to get to Eastworth court?" Josh asked.

"Yep. I actually know a lot of the streets around here, why?" Tyler asked curiously.

"See, i have a Social Sciences project with a girl named Jenna, that's the street she lives on. We need to meet up and work on it today. But i was listening to music and not really listening when she told me how to get there," Josh laughed gingerly, tripping over the words. He didn't want to upset tyler that he had to go.

Tyler's heart sank. Josh was leaving? What if he didn't come back?

Tyler, you're alone.

Josh felt too guilty and didn't want to leave him behind. He noticed tyler's expression suddenly becoming distant, sinking into a thought process josh didn't even want to imagine.

"Okay, you know what? Come with me. Im sure Jenna would like you. She likes everyone." Josh said, desperately trying to take the hurt off his friend's face.

"Really? Should i really go to a GIRL'S house like this?" He gestured to his torn clothes, and ruffled his dirty hair.

"Okay, no. Come to my house and take a shower." Josh said.

Tyler walked up to Josh's house. First off, it was huge. It was absolutely incredible. There was a well manicured garden with a sprinkler leading up to the door, that sprayed his pants a little as he walked by. The driveway was paved with cobblestone and there were christmas lights set up over the garage in anticipation of the snow.

"Wow....." Tyler said breathlessly.

"What?" Josh said.

"Your house. It's incredible." He said, walking through the front door, taking care to remove his messy shoes. He glanced at a mirror nearby, and suddenly realized how very out-of-place he looked.

But Josh, messy, rebellious, red-haired Josh looked just as foreign in the fancy environment.

"Hello sweetheart! Is this the Tyler boy you were telling your mom about?" His aunt asked, walking up to him. She wasnt repulsed, as Tyler expected, but inviting and kind. Much like Josh was.

So that's where Josh gets that from, tyler noted quietly. Must run in his family.

"Okay, lets go up to my room, and get you some not destroyed clothes." Josh said, not really knowing what Tyler was so impressed by.

Josh's room was so different from downstairs that tyler could've sworn he wasnt in the same house anymore. It was dark, and there were posters everywhere. Despite the misleading decor, the room itself was very clean, aside from the messy vinyls haphazardly stuck under Josh's bed.

The whole place made Tyler instantly feel so at home, he would be perfectly fine never leaving.

"So are these okay?" Josh said, holding an olive green polo shirt, air jordan basketball shoes and some black jeans.

"Better than okay. Are you sure this is fine?" Tyler said.

"Of course. I have more clothes and shoes than i could ever need. Keep these."

"Whoa, keep them? Really?" Tyler said, in awe of holding such expensive looking clothes. It had been so long, he'd been living out of his tattered old ones, these seemed like gold.

"Of course. Now go shower, we gotta get to Jenna's house." Josh said. He tossed him a towel. "Bathroom's the 2nd door on the left."

"Thanks so much." Tyler said, stepping softly on the plush white carpet. He looked around while walking. This place was incredible.

How could Josh have picked sleeping on the park bench with me over this? He thought to himself, walking into the bathroom.

In the meantime, Josh called Jenna.

"Hello?" Her voice chirped through the phone.

"Hi, it's Josh."

"Josh, hi! Okay so i have some plans for our project, can you get here soon please-"

"Look, i need to bring someone with me, is that okay?"

"Depends. Who?"

"Tyler Joseph."

"That kid who dropped out of school? Why on earth would you need to do that? He's crazy-"

This angered josh. Tyler wasn't crazy. He was just vulnerable. He cut Jenna off for the second time. "HE ISNT CRAZY, HE'S MY BEST FRIEND." He said a little more forcefully than he meant to, then softened his tone.

"He's actually really sweet and nice. You'll like him."

"Okay, if you say so. Im trusting you Josh, don't make me regret it." Jenna said, and hung up.

Little did he know, Tyler heard him, while trying to figure out how to turn the shower knobs on. He almost cried.

Best friends?

Wow...

Half an hour later, they were both walking out of Josh's house, with tyler fed and dressed nicely. He felt like a whole new person. It felt so nice, realizing how much he missed feeling this way. Living out of the same clothes with no food was terrible.

"So how do we get there?" Josh asked. Tyler proceeded to walk Josh down to Jenna's house.

"How do you know this? If you don't go anywhere much, i mean....you don't really live anywhere." Josh said, curious.

"Well, when you got no where to be, you spend a lot of time walking everywhere. I've seen these streets. I know them. Ive walked down them. Simple as that, really." Tyler said, feeling something.

Confidence, maybe?

What do you feel so confident about? Being homeless, you idiot? A voice broke through, immediately shattering his almost-confidence, as tyler retreated back into himself, not saying anything the rest of the way there.

They finally got to her house. It wasn't nearly as big as Josh's, but still quite nice. It reminded Tyler of his house.

Or more accurately, the house he used to live in.

"What're you waiting for? Let's go to her doorstep!" Josh said.

"Okay...." Tyler said, feeling very nervous. He couldn't remember the last time he talked to a girl. It was so long ago, but tyler, knowing himself, assumed it probably didn't go too well anyway.

They walked up to her door and rang the bell. A pretty girl opened the door. She had long blonde hair with the tips dyed blue, and she had black eyeliner lining her eyes. She was very beautiful.

Tyler's voice got caught in his throat, as Josh said, "Hi, what's up?" To her.

"Nothing much, wanna come in?" She said, smiling. She hated to admit it, but Tyler's appearance denied every rumor she'd ever heard about tyler. She found him attractive. He didn't look like a failure who got kicked out of his parents' house and dropped out of their high school. He looked handsome.

Tyler suddenly felt his whole world go up in flames, but he felt so, so cold. Jenna's eyes made him feel cold, but set his surroundings on fire. He said the first thing he could think of, unsurely. His eyes darted left and right,  noticing Josh had already walked right in, smiling another squinty-eyed smile.

"Can i come in?"

She chuckled a little and opened the door wider.

"Absolutely."
