"Mom what is Colton doing here?" I asked as we arrive at our front door. I don't see Beth or Colton so I assume they are already in the house.
"I'll explain when your dad gets here." She said as we walked inside. Beth and Cole are sitting on the couch talking. I come over and plop down next to Beth.
"Looking good dudets. How have you guys been?"
"Good." Beth says while getting up to give my mom a hug.
"How about you Cas?"
"I've been great. How about yourself?" I said looking down at my hands and feeling Beth's eyes burn into the back of my head. I hear the front door open and everybody's eyes shoot to where the door is.
"Hey Cas I'm home!" I hear my dad yell.
"No Honey I'm home!" My mom yelled and next thing I know I see my dad hugging my mom. When my dad lets go of her he looks up and sees Cole and gives him a fist bump and Beth a high-five.
"Well are we having a party without me?" He says poking his head into the kitchen looking at the pizza Beth's grandmother brought by for us.
"Haha. Honey, Kids, We have something to talk about so I think we should all sit down and have a conversation. My mom and dad sat on the love seat across from the couch Cole,Beth, and I were sitting on.
My mom began once we all got settled. "So as we all know Cole is here. And we all know that Cole's mom is sick and his dad is a busy man right now." Coles mom was in the hospital for some type of cancer. I didn't know what type of cancer but I did know that she wasn't well and that she was always in and out of the hospital. I also knew that Coles dad was a busy man and that he came around when he could. He always tried to be around when important things happened for Cole but it always seemed like he could never make it.
We all nodded besides Cole. He just sat there. So my mom started again "I made Coles mom a promise back when we got out of college that I intend to keep." Cole looked as confused as all of us. I guess he didn't know why he was here either.
"We made a promise that I would take her kids into custody if anything ever happened but only if her husband would let me and vise verse for me. I talked to Coles father and he said that it would be okay if Cole came and lived with me until he finished high school which is just for a year. So Cole is back and he's moving in." She said looking at all of our faces trying to find out what we we're thinking. Cole gave me a little nudge and I looked at him.
"Hey. Looks like we're housemate." He said giving me the biggest and brightest smile I have ever seen.
"Yes! Finally another guy in the house! Welcome to the family Cole." My dad got up and so did Cole and they gave each other a manly hug.
"I didn't get that kind of love when I came to the family. Way to make me feel special." Beth said in a joking way.
"Get over here!" My dad said while giving Beth a hug. Then there hug turned into one big group hug.
"Alright so since the guess room isn't set up. Cole can sleep on the couch in your room right?" My mom said.
"Yeah. Sure." I said.
After our big happy family meeting Beth,Cole, and I went to my room. Cole sat on my couch and Me and Beth sat on my bed.
"Soooooo I want to sleep on the couch. " Beth said.
"Uhm..no." I said giving Beth an evil glare.
"I'm just gonna go to bed it's late and I'm tired." Cole said staring at me and Beth.
