"Beth?" I shift my body towards my best friend
"Yes?" She turns and looks at me.
"can you stay the night? I don't want to be alone tonight."
"Yes of course I can. Let my text my Grandma and tell her to bring some stuff by for us, okay?" Beth lived with her Grandmother. Her dad is that kind of asshole to knock someone up and leave and her mother is in the Army.
"Thank you" I said giving her a weird hug thingy since we are laying down and it's kind of hard.
"For what?" She says looking confused but accepting my hug thingy by leaning closer.
"Being here." I say and turn to grab my phone.
She didn't say anything back. I turned on my phone and the text messages and missed phone calls started flowing in. They were from my mom and Colton. Colton? I haven't talked to him since he left. We exchanged numbers but never really got into a conversation. It was just a 'Hi and bye' type of thing the first month he left. I have no clue what he could want.
I decide to call my mom since I had 56 missed calls and 34 unread text messages.
"Hello?" I ask when I stop hearing the ringer meaning someone answered or it went to voicemail.
"Cassey! You scared me I thought you we're dead! Why was your phone off? I bought you the phone so I could call you not so you can turn it off! You had me worried sick! Are you okay? Do I need to call Beth? How was school? Are you hurt? Do I need to call your dad?" The words are just flowing out of my mother’s mouth like its natural.
"Mom Calm down. I'm sorry my phone was off it died while I was at school and then me and Beth went to the mall I just got home." I turned around and Beth was scowling me. I lied. Of course I lied I don't want to put my mom under all that stress. I don't want her worrying about me. "I'm fine. Beth is here no need to call her. I'm not hurt. Don't call dad I don't need him worrying too." I say.
"Okay. Good. I'm glad you’re okay. I miss you."
"I miss you too mom." I said with a little smile on my face.
"I'm on my way home. Tomorrow you and Beth aren’t going to school I want you guys to stay up in till I get there." She says sounding in a rush.
"Okay! I'm so excited! I can't wait! What time are you going to get here? So Beth can stay, right?"
"I'll be there in about 4 hours. Yes Beth can stay. I have a surprise for you both so just be ready. I have to go Cass I'll call you when I'm closer. I love you bye."
I was going to say 'I love you too’ but she had already hung up.
I look up and Beth was gone. I run down stairs and look around. I head towards the front door and I see Beth's Grandmothers car and remembered that she texted her Grandma to bring some stuff by. I throw on my shoes really quick and jog outside. Beth had two boxes of pizzas, a tub of ice cream and a few clothing items.
"Oh my gosh! Cassey you have gotten so big sweetheart. I miss you! You look so grown." She says in shock.
"Thank you Gma." Me and Beth have always been super close. Her family is my family and my family is hers. "You aren’t looking all that bad yourself. I miss you more." I said feeling happy that someone liked the way I looked when I was a mess even though I know she was just being nice it's the thought that counts..
"I'm going to let you munchkins go. I love you guys Behave yourselves."
"Love you too!" We shout in unison as Beth’s Grandmother pulls away. We head back toward the house.
