[A bit of a longer chapter, sorry. I didn't want to cut it off earlier because I didn't want it to end up boring. I know it's sometimes hard to read really long chapters, so I apologize. Interesting title? Yeah, it gets explained.]
I tried to figure out what that was supposed to mean. I'm not sure if it was convenient or inconvenient, but at that moment, it started to lightly rain. No one really looked bothered; it probably rained every day here in Haiti.
"We should go back to the room," Logan decided, glancing up at the clouds. It didn't look like any storm we'd be able to just sit here and wait off unless we wanted to get soaked and electrocuted.
Therefore, we headed back to our room as quickly as we could, attempting to stay as dry as possible. It didn't really work. Oh well, I needed to change anyways.
A slight blush crept up onto my cheeks as I thought about how awkward it was that I was sharing a hotel room with a boy I hardly knew. Gosh, I hoped this didn't get more awkward than it needed to be.
Logan's phone started buzzing in his pocket, and he quickly pulled it out. "Important call?" I asked.
He nodded. "I'll be outside," he said, walking out the door.
Why on Earth he would want to go outside where it was wet, I had no idea. Privacy, I guess, but was it worth standing in the rain. The walkway was sheltered, though, so he might've been able to stay dry.
I decided to get a shower and change while Logan was preoccupied outside. The water wouldn't warm up very much, but Haiti was so hot that the cool water was actually a relief. Granted, part of me was afraid that I would find a bug in the bathroom or something, but thankfully, I didn't.
I didn't think that we'd be leaving the room again tonight, so I pulled on my pajamas and got comfortable on the couch. Out of curiosity, I turned on the tv to see what was on.
I nearly had a fangirl moment. One of my favorite childhood movies, Quest for Camelot, was playing. Granted, it was in French, but I could still understand some of it. Besides, I had seen it so much when I was little that I knew what was happening even without the dialogue.
As the movie went on, I began to notice that Logan was spending forever on the phone. Hopping up, I headed to the door, but froze when my hand touched the doorknob. If I even opened the door, I would instantly start getting sweaty again, and I really didn't want to change and shower again. Instead, I peeked out the window, and saw Logan slipping his phone back into his pocket.
I plopped back down on the couch, fixing my attention back on the movie. Logan re-entered the hotel room, a gust of hot air from outside blowing in the doorway. I could hear the sound of rain pounding down.
"Close that door," I ordered.
Logan silently did so, looking like something was bothering him. I almost asked him what, but I figured that it had to do with his eternal phone call, and I didn't want to sound pushy. Plus, it was right then that my very own phone went off.
"Hello?" I answered the call without even checking the caller ID.
"Rory, where were you today?"
I froze. "Evan?" Why was the boy I had just broken up with calling me? Logan raised an inquisitive eyebrow, and I motioned for him to go away.
I could almost sense Evan rolling his eyes. "Yes, Evan, who else?"
"Uhh..."
He dismissed his semi-rhetorical question. "You sick or something? Everyone was asking me where you were today, I guess they didn't know about our...umm, argument, but I didn't have an answer for them."
