Bella's POV:

I was new here in the city of Forks, Washington. I was never too popular in my other school in Phoenix but when I got to the small town in Forks it seemed like everyone knew me. I didn't like all the attention but it sparked something inside me that kind of made me feel all warm and fuzzy. I know what your thinking, warm and fuzzy is weird but admit it, everyone has those moments were you kind of learn to like the attention.

I moved into my apartment and met my new roommate. "Hi my name is Isabella Swan, it's nice to meet you"
When she didn't answer and just kept putting her clothes in her drawers I felt kind of awkward and started off differently, "What's your name?"

I started to walk away when she gasped and spun around, "Oh god you scared the crap out of me! You must be Bella Swan my new roommate! It's nice to meet you, I'm Jessica Stanley." I realized that she had on ear plugs, I feel so stupid when I miss those sort of things! She had light brown messy hair with light hazel eyes that popped out because of her simple, eyeliner and mascara look. She smiled wide to greet me.

"Oh sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. You can call me Bella. It's nice to meet you, I thought I would have some psycho living with me!"

"Oh well, no psycho here! Hey is it okay if my friend Angela comes over in a few hours to help me study for an exam?"

"Oh sure, you don't have to ask me."

"You should meet her I think you two would be good friends!"

"Yeah sure, what time will she be here?"

"Umm, around eight o'clock."

"I'll be here, I'm gonna go get settled in."

"Okay! If you need any help just let me know!"

"Thanks," I said as I walked up the stairs to a room. It had beige walls and it was probably bigger than my old apartment. It had a queen-sized bed in the middle of it. I put down my bags and sat down on the bed.

I tried to think of a few places I could get a job at. Polo, a bar that seems to always have slutty waitresses in. I always wondered why girls would want to work there, but my friend told me that bars pay better than McDonalds and Burger King put together. I needed to pay my first months tuition, and gas is pretty expensive now. Polo seemed like a good option. I'll go there tomorrow and introduce myself.

I started to unpack when I heard a knock on my door. "Bella, someone's here to see you. He says his name is Jacob Black and that you were old friends."

I sat up and walked over to open the door, "Hey! Jacob, it's been too long!" I exclaimed as he caught me in a bear hug.

"I've missed you so much Bel-" he was cut out by the sound of me gasping for air. "Oh sorry Bells, I didn't mean to hurt you." He said as he put me down steadily.

"Jake, what happened you're like a wrestler! I don't understand!" I exclaimed breathlessly.

"Really? To me it's quite simple to understand. See, over the years I started working out more and lately I've been finding myself hurting people every time I even high-five them." He said in a proud voice.

"Oh then you can help me unload my car."

"Yes madam, I'll go fetch my suit!" He said while giving me the army solute.

"Ok whatever, go fetch a few of my things, you Saint Bernard!"

And with that he marched out of the room like a soldier. His footsteps were so heavy that I'm pretty sure I could hear them even when they reached my car. I started to unpack my clothes and in no time he was back and carrying a lot more than 'a few of my things'.

"Hey, where do you want these?" He asked me patiently.

"Where ever. I'll find a place for them later. Thanks."

"No problem." After a few moments he asked me something very unexpected, "Would you like to go for a drink tomorrow night?"

"Where?"

"Well you might remember the place from a few years ago when you last visited, The Finéta Diner."

"Oh yeah sure, what time?"

"I'll pick you up around six. Is that okay?"

"Yeah I'll see you then."

"See ya Bella"

Without saying another word, he left. I was left thinking if this was a date or just two people having dinner together. I figured I'd just figure it out tomorrow night.

For the rest of the night I finished unpacking until Jessica's friend Angela came to the door. "Hey Bella, Angela's here!" She called from down stairs. "Okay I'll be right down!" I shouted back.

When I finished making my bed I walked downstairs. "Hey Bella, this is Angela, Angela this is Bella." Jessica introduced us using hand gestures.

"Hi it's nice to meet you, Angela. I hope we can be good friends"

"It's nice to meet you too, Bella! We'll be great friends!"

"So Bella, who was that Jacob guy who was here earlier?" Jessica asked creating small talk, but I could hear the real curiosity burning behind her words.

"Just an old friend. We've known each other since as far back as I can remember."

"Old friend.... " Jessica pushed.

"Yeah." I said awkwardly not really knowing what to say.

"Wait, what 'Jacob' guy?" Angela cut in not really understanding anything.

"Oh he was so hot and muscular, Angela!" Jessica exclaimed.

For the remaining three hours she was here, I kind of sat back and let them gossip about cute boys, only paying attention when they brought up my name. Sometimes they would pull me into the conversation and ask me about my old boyfriends. I really wasn't used to all this girly kind of talk so I blushed a little bit at some of the questions before answering them. At around ten o'clock Angela went home and me and Jessica said our good nights and went into our separate rooms.

I was so tired that I fell asleep so quickly.
