Over the last few hours I've gotten hate mail and some hate comments that I've already deleted. It seems that everyone is upset with the way things had ended, so allow me to explain why this book is called a Sasuke 'lovestory' but the characters of that story don't end up together.
1 point. 'Because sometimes loving someone doesn't mean being in their world. Sometimes just staying in the background while protecting their world is what it means to love.'
Rin has already decided and explained that sometimes loving a person doesn't always necessarily mean you'll end up together. Since Rin has never been in love but understood it through others, she believes in her heart that protecting Sasuke and his happiness is good enough.
Love isn't defined by another person's thoughts or expectations, it's decided by the individual who is in love and for Rin, it was allowing Sasuke to walk his path while she walks hers.
2 point. Sasuke wants to restore the clan.
If you've been keeping up with the story, you should know that Rin is unable to have children. Sasuke wants kids and she can't give it to him. She knows that if his future was forever intertwined with hers, the Uchiha clan can never be restored.
3 point. Plot issues
If I were to have Sasuke and Rin together since the middle of the story, it'd be like any other story and it would just follow the plot of the anime. That's kind of boring don't you think? And it'd be like EVERY OTHER SASUKE LOVESTORY ON WATTPAD!!! It's better to have an unexpected story plot then one you'll become bored with because you already know everything that happens.
Let's not stick to cliches.
4 point. Moral Lesson
The book teaches young readers that not all lovestories are what they read in fantasies. Sometimes not taking the lead role is what it means to love.
5 point. I designed it that way
Yes, I understand that it says 'love story' and yes I understand that it doesn't say in the description that Rin ends up leaving, but that's how I designed this story. To be dramatic and emotional. A story of a girl who fell in love twice, lost one love on the way, and protected the one she let go.
I can't allow Rin to love another character when she herself has never understood it fully. Rin and Sasuke will always have that special attraction, but Rin knows that no matter how much she wishes to be with him, she's not ready.
And she doesn't want to be as cruel as to make him wait. She chose to do something of her own desire, finiding her family. If she didn't go then Sasuke and her would be together but with no legacy. If she leaves she'll have a family and Sasuke will have a legacy. Something he's alway dreamed of.
Rin made the hard decision to grant both of their happiness by not being together.
