This. Is. Weird. I've known this Liam character for about five minutes but he's acting like we've known each other for years. What happened to the scrawny kid that Luke described? This man was neither scrawny nor a kid. He is about 6'4" and built like a football player. I can't fathom what happened in the last few years. Oh wait, I can. The apocalypse. I almost forgot all the madness going on outside when I enter Liam's house. He is so wasteful. He has generators running 24/7 and even uses air conditioning. It's glorious. However, we've been here for about an hour and I want to leave now. No one should stay in the same place without a guard for too long. Once you get too comfortable, you die.
"... don't you think, Hope?" I realized I was being included in the conversation far too late. my only hope was to agree, so I just nodded my head. Apparently, that's all they needed me for because they just keep rambling on to each other.
"I'm going to go look around for a bit," I say and they barely even acknowledge me. Whatever. Luke needs more friends anyway. So I walk out of this weirdly positioned "living room" into I guess what would be called a kitchen, but it's so comically large that he has 4 high school cafeteria tables just sitting in the center. See? This is what I mean, he wastes resources on things like that when there are only four guys living here. But never look a gift horse in the mouth. When I was checking out his rations, there was CAKE. How in the world can he keep all this up? He would have to have access to some serious machinery to make flour, and keep livestock for the milk and eggs, plus whatever else he would need to make it. I'll admit these thoughts came second in my mind, though. If he has pizza here I think I might die. As I check the freezer, guess what I find? Frozen Happiness mislabeled as pizza with a handwritten note labeling what is on it. For a few minutes, I just stare at it. He has all the ingredients and knows how to make pizza. I think I'm starting to warm up to this guy. All I've had to eat for the last 3 months is "the food of heroes," so I'm freaking out inside. After I check the place out, I'll ask about dinner.
The next room is a bathroom with working hot water. Which is amazing, but I just saw pizza and cake, so I wasn't really thinking about it. The next room is a bedroom with a guy sleeping on the bed, so I just shut the door awkwardly and went to the next hallway.
