RILEY

The next day

*Monday June, 2*

I had to wake up at 6:15 a.m. Stupid school. I only have two days left of school, but I have to stay until Saturday, at least; two reasons: 1) my basketball game, and 2) I have graduation on Friday.

"Riley, hurry up and get down here. Your friends are here," my mom called from the bottom of the stairs.

"I'm coming, be patient," I yell back. I grab my backpack off of my bed and run down the stairs. "Hey guys," I said. Mitchell, Jake, Jason, and Tristan always bring me to school, so they are here to pick me up. Btw, Jake and Jason are twins, and don't get them mixed up, they will get really mad at you.

"Hey Riley," Jake and Jason said in sync.

"Ok, you know what, don't do that, it's really creepy." They just laughed. I grab my skateboard from the corner, and walk out with boys to the car.

"So Riley, when do you leave for London?" Mitchell asked.

"Two weeks from yesterday, so my birthday," I answer rolling my eyes.

"You don't want to go?" Tristan questioned shocked.

"No way," I responded.

"Why not, the other four girls would kill to be in your position. Now that I think about, I think almost all the girls in our school would want to be in your position," Jake said.

"Have you met them yet?" Jason asked.

"Yeah, I met them yesterday," I said, bluntly.

"Do you not like them?" Tristan asked, shocked.

"Not really. They seem cocky."

"I will still expect to see you in magazines with a famous boyfriend some time soon," Jason said with his ridiculous smirk, that he knows annoys the crap out of me.

"And I don't," I said.

"Why not?" Jason apparently really wants me to have a famous boyfriend.

"Like I said, they seem cocky."

"Wouldn't it be cool for you to have a famous boyfriend."

"Yes, but not any of them. And anyway, three of them have girlfriends."

"Which ones?" Tristan asked.

"Zayn has Perrie, Liam and Sophia, then Louis and Eleanor."

"So who is left is..." Jason again.

"Harry and Niall."

"What about Niall?"

"I think we'll get along but I won't date any of them." Jason just gave me that 'huh' look. "I am going to be with them on a professional level, Jason, not a personal one."

"Ok, ok," he put his hands up in surrender. We got to school, and Mitchell parked the car. We all walked in together, and I got a couple weird looks from the popular girls. The boys are those boys at school the every girl likes, well almost every girl.

"Ignore him. What do you want to do on your birthday before you leave?" Mitchell said. Mitchell is my best guy friend ever. He's awesome, sweet, nice, and anything else you could ask for. Noel is my best female friend. We are each others' other half. I know it sounds weird, but I don't care.

"I don't know. What do you guys want to do, I want to spend it with all my friends," I answer. We got to school, and walked in as a group. I get a whole bunch of weird looks from most of the girls.

"It is your 19th birthday. Your last birthday as a teenager. You have to do something really fun," Tristan exclaimed.

"We have to ask everyone else first," I said. As if on queue, everyone else, as in Carson, Brooke, Payton, Cole, Hunter, Ashton, Kylee, Ana, Riker, Noel, and Dylan, came up to us.

"Hey guys," Noel said.

"Hiya," I responded.

"Riley was wondering what you guys wanted to do before she leaves being the day she leaves is her birthday," Jake threw out. I hit his chest with the back of my hand. "Ow, what was that for?" he whines like a toddler.

"3 reasons: 1) you are really straight forward, 2) I wanted to ask them, and 3) I felt like it," I responded. He push me playfully but a little too hard and side stepped into Mitchell.

"Riley, apologize to Mitchell," Jake stated pointing to Mitch. I turned to face him with my arms crossed over my chest and sitting into my hip, like I always do when he irritates me.

"I think you should be the one apologizing," Mitch said, wrapping his arms around my shoulders from the back, in a brotherly kind of way.

"I have to go to class, but tell me what you people come up with for my birthday," I call out to them as I walk to my first hour, which is math. I am in an AP math class, and none of my friends are that smart, so I am the only one of my friends in my math class.

"Okay, class, take you seats," my teacher, Mr. Wilson, said as everyone in the class did as told. "We are going to play game theory today, being there are only 2 days left of school." The class cheered. Most of us love game theory. Game theory is a way of learning math, but playing games. Last time we played, we played one called 'Prisoners' Dilemma'.

Prisoners' Dilemma is like when two people committed a crime and they are put in two separate rooms and are interrogated. You can either choose to rat out the other person, or keep silent. If you rat and the other person rats, you won't get anything. If you rat and the other person keeps silent, you get 3 points and the other person gets -1 points, and vise versa. If you keep silent and the other person keeps silent, you each get 1 point. We did 5 rounds and I got 3 points.

"Today we are playing 'Duel'," Mr. Wilson said, "To play Duel, on your turn, you can either choose to take a step forward or you can throw you dice. If you throw the dice and hit the person, you win. If you throw the dice and miss, you lose. We will play a bracket, so who ever wins out of the whole class, gets a prize," Mr. Wilson finishes. We played and a boy named Carter won out of the whole class. Yeah, I lost the first round. It was now 6th hour, social studies. Today went by fast and I don't get how, it felt like a really long day.

"Today, we will be talking about veterans and people serving right now," Ms. Anderson said. This topic kind of made me sad; exactly 2 years ago, Jared was supposed to come home. "We will have a few relatives of some of you come in and say what they have to say about serving. First, Alexa's dad." Alexa's dad walked in the door. I put my head on my desk and was just listening to what everyone was saying.

"Hi everyone," he said.

"Next is Jeremy's mom and dad." They also walked through the door. "Carter's mom." She also walked through the door. "Last, we have Jared." My head shot up from my desk as someone walked through the door. It was him. He smiled at me and started walking towards my desk. I got up once he was almost right next to my desk and hugged him like my life depended on it.
