Chapter 6- Yellow Dress Lies
“Pass the remote,” Jason said.
“Get it yourself.” I called out from my sprawled out spot on the big chair. Wow, a big chair…you say… Yeah well it’s amazing. It’s dark blue to match the TV room, but that’s not it. The chair is like a mini couch with arm rests. Which I put my legs over. It is so cushy take you sink right into it. Sorry, I really love it.
“You're closer.”
“I’m stuck.”
“Whatever.”
“Whatever,” I mocked in a girly voice. I’m very mature, thank you.
“Okay, that made no sense.”
“Well you-“
“Welcome to the 7’oclock news here in New York City.” A woman’s voice came from the TV, interrupting our pointless bickering. “Yesterday in the late afternoon, a women trafficking business in the outskirts of the city was attacked. Police were called to the scene after a citizen heard noises in a nearby alley. Police arrived to find dead men outside and inside.” A man rushed on the news platform with a clipboard and whispered in the newscaster’s ear.
“What do you think it’s about?” Jason asked me curiously. I had my suspicions.
“Okay, C.S.I. is releasing more details,” The women continued. “Inside the warehouse, a half-dead man was found unconscious. He was tied to a chair and cut up a lot. A note was attached to him. Reading the following. CSI and the government. I present you with.” She paused. “Name won't be given due to investigation purposes. He was the man behind this filthy place and operation. I’m giving him to you for imprisonment. A monster like him doesn’t deserve death, but if I don’t see his punishment as I see fit, I will take him back. Jack Wills. P.S. Don’t bother questioning him about me, he didn’t see a thing.” The newscaster,-maybe I should have learned her name- got paler with every word she said.
Just as I thought, they would read the note. Hoping to scare the people. The government doesn’t care about one less place like that. No, Jack Wills has done too much to ever be considered a hero. Not that it matters to me though. I have my reasons and my justice.
“Is he really that powerful?” She muttered, apparently still talking. “Well, over to Tom with the weather.”
“What, no other news?” Jason asked, bewildered.
“They ran out of time,” I told my confused twin as he walked over to the glass table- no not just top- and took the remote.
I stayed in my chair, staring without focusing. What were they planning? How did they plan to draw me out? Was that their plan? What was the new person like? I hadn't gotten to read their files yet. I was such a slacker. Some girl, I recall. She had a different name too. I supposed I should go and read it right now. It would bug me to I did after all. I got up and trudged up three flights of stairs, there is a reason why I’m so fit. I went into my closet where I stash everything. I pulled out the envelope from a secret drawer. I sat in my high tech chair and locked the high security door. Haha, just kidding, I sat in the bathtub. It is an awesome place, okay?
Name: Delta
Age: 16
Guardians: none
Education: graduated, taking college courses
So, no last name and she probably named herself too. Somehow, I haven’t got a clue, she must've been a legal adult or something like that I guess. Doesn’t list any family members of any sort. This could be hard to track her past down, as the CSI doesn’t have it in here. Just that she is the youngest agent. Been with them for two years. Solved some impressive cases too. This should be fun. For I love a chase. I wondered why they put her on the Jack Wills case though. She was smart, but lacked the experience of most agents. Most of the papers in the envelope were about the cases she had done. Delta is very fast at solving I see. I wonder how long it will take till she gets frustrated. A paper just jumped out, not kidding. It fell. In bold black letters. Criminal Records. What? How young was she? A dare?
The list is long, pages. Starting simple. Shoplifting, stealing, breaking and entering, and vandalization. Apparently she attacked the police too. My laugh echoed in the bathroom room at that. I’m guessing she didn’t want to become one of them when she was older. Things got more violent as she got older, well not that old. People cut up and even second degree murder. Wow, maybe they were hoping I’d kill her off. Well they will have to wait. I want to play first.
A knock on the door interrupted me from my somewhat creepy thoughts.
“Breakfast is served, Ms. Bead.”
“Thank you Noel” I thanked my person my maid. “But didn’t I tell you to call me Lydia?”
“Sorry M-Lydia," Noel apologize.
I bet you’re confused. Yeah we were watching TV at six in the morning. Now it was eight. As I sat at the table in my room and ate, Noel went over my day. Morning lessons were cancelled due to an interview which I totally forgot about.
“Noel, can you help me with my hair?”
“Certainty, Miss.”
It was eleven in the morning when my hair was all curled. It only took an hour. A girl has to shower and have her make up too! It is a live interview! By then I got an early lunch, which sounds normal but it was amazing. Waffles! Yeah, they are good…so stop giving me that look…
“Miss Lydia.”
“Mmm.” I looked up from my waffles.
“What would you like to wear?” (To me clothes are important so try not to zone off here or anytime if they aren’t your thing.) Innocence.
“My summer yellow short skirt.”
“Yes, Miss.”
“Please call me Lydia.”
