"Tch, don't make this into a damn habit boys." - Chad, the head officer of the police station grumbled, handing over the envelope filled with money.

Nicolas just smirks while Worick reaches over to grab the package.

"Oh well between you and me, we both know who actually makes this into a habit ol' Chad-y boy." - Worick teases "take care of yourself, go travel or something"

"Me travel? Yeah right and leave the damn families to Ergastulum to shit?" - Chad grumbles shoving his hands inside his pockets to pull out a cigar

"A cigar? Wow? What's the special occasions? Not every day that you try to poison your lungs with that type of luxury" - Worick laughs

"Kind of a little gift I found at our last job. You know what, here take one" - Chad says holding open a small glass case. "Nico? Smoke?"

But Nicolas just rolls his eyes, crossing his arms.

"You know Nico's been trying to stay off that stuff. Bad for the wind-pipes or something" - Worick states patting Nic's chest

"When your sorry ass turned into such a health-nut?" - Chad asks cocking up an eyebrow

"Trying to....talk...better" - Nic speaks up, it's not very elegant but for Nicolas it was progress. He didn't want to smoke in fear it will cause more damage to his vocal chords. Even if he couldn't hear, he could still at least try to speak.

"I see" - Chad says not trying to put down someone who was trying to improve himself. God knows that Chad did things he wasn't proud of.

"Well, we have Alex waiting for us back at Granny's store so if you need anything else, feel free to call us anytime" - Worick states "Thanks for the cigar by the way, I'll be smoking it when I'll be plowing my next broad"

"disrespectful as always.."

As the two men walked back to Granny Joel's place suddenly she runs out to great them in such a weird fashion.

"Oh! Um...You're back? So soon" - she stutters smiling at them

That was already weird, she never smiles.

"Is something wrong? Where's Alex?" - Worick asked confused

"No she's with Connie inside, there something you need to know" - Granny Joel starts but Worick just glances up to see another being walk out of the store with Alex and Connie.

"No...way?" - Worick mumbles "it's..." - he speaks turning over to Nico who has now frozen at the sight of her.

"I don't think you remember me" - she starts walking over to Nicolas

"I..." - Nico starts but couldn't find the words to form how he felt

"My name is Avery, we met a long ago on a bridge? Do you remember? I think you were searching for someone"

"On a bridge huh?" - Worick questions glancing over at Nic

Nico just looks up at the sky as if to wonder what did he ever do to deserve this horrible moment letting out a frustrated sigh.

"I know this may seem weird to you but.."

"Weird is an understatement my dear" - Worick laughs

"But....That day we met, I feel like I am suppose to help you some how"

Ava was so excited as she turns to Nico. Whom at this moment was glad he was mute for once. How did she even find him?

Nico just walks past her coldly not wanting to open up old wounds that he was sure he had finally sealed shut.

"No please wait!" - she begs grabbing onto his wrist but like a impulsive reflex, Nicolas just pulls it back roughly making the girl fall over and into the cold hard ground.

"Nicolas!" - Granny Joel yells so loud that even a deaf like him, could hear it.

Nic didn't turn around, he just continues his walk back to the Handyman apartment by himself. The look on Ava's face was utter shock.

"I've never seen him act this way.." - Alex speaks helping the girl up.

No one will ever understand his callus behavior better than Worick. But all he could do is sigh.

It was painfully obvious that the past still hurt too much.

"I'm sorry, if I knew he would do that I wouldn't have told her to stay and wait" - Connie tells Worick who just smiles weakly

"Don't worry about him Ava-chan." - Worick says pausing for a moment

Wow it's been so long since he said that it's almost foreign..

"He's just being a little grump. He would love your help" - Worick reassures placing a hand on your shoulder.

"I...don't know, It didn't seem like it"

"Trust me, it will do him some good." - Worick states "Even if he doesn't see it himself."

----------------

That night Ava, stayed with Connie and Granny Joel while Alex and Worick finally got home.

"Just give us minute, Ally-chan" - Worick says as the brunette nods letting Worick walk inside, where Nico was downstairs working out. "Oi! Nico!" - he shouts throwing a water bottle at him.

"Hm" - Nico says rubbing his head now bruised

"Made hell of a scene back there didn't you?"

"I didn't mean to" - Nico says through his regular sign language

"So you met her at a bridge?"

"Yeah...but it was a long time ago"

"And she doesn't remember you, does she?" - Worick asks forcing Nico to face the real reason he ran.

Nicolas was searching for someone, it was true. But Ava was wrong when she said they first met at the bridge. He's known her longer than she's known herself. Nico purposely came to find her that day without notifying Worick.

It is only when you lose someone that you realize how much they mean to you and Nic found that out the hard way. But as he crossed that bridge to win her back, he comes to find out she had lost her memories from the accident.

And here she is, after all those years...why torture his heart anymore? Just send him to hell then, it would probably be more pleasant than dealing with Ava again.

It had to be some cruel joke the world was playing on him but then again, he was just a Tag who loved a human girl.
