"i'll be in the bathroom, okay? i'll be back in just a sec," i patted ari's shoulder and she walked off, still sniffling and tears still trickling down her face. i sighed and turned around, starting to make my way to the restrooms.

once i got to the building where the concession stand, restrooms and lounging area was, i opened the doors to the brick structure and walked in, stepping into the lobby. there were maybe about two people in there that i noticed first but then i saw someone else, someone who was pacing around the whole room and seemed to be looking for someone. it was a guy, a guy wearing nothing but bright blue swim trunks with little cartoon donuts on them.

tyler.

i tried to scramble over to the girl's bathroom before he could see me but i was too late. he spotted me and seemed to hold his breath while he hurried over my way. i opened the door to the restroom but he grabbed my arm, turning me around. i ripped from his grasp and he put his hands up, like he was surrendering.

"i was looking for you," he breathed, and he seemed to be totally checking me out. i then remembered that i was wearing my bathing suit that was pretty revealing (i'll admit) and i suddenly wanted to cover up. i sighed sharply to make him look up and it worked. i crossed my arms and rolled my eyes.

"listen, i'm sorry for being an asshole back there. could you tell your friend that i'm sorry?"

"why can't you tell her yourself?" i snapped, and he looked taken aback by my tone. "she's still in the car waiting for me, bawling her eyes out because of you."

tyler shoved his hands in the pockets of his trunks and looked down at his bare feet. "could you just please tell her for me?"

i just stood and tapped my foot impatiently. i started to walk away and he grabbed my arm again, making me turn around.

"what?" i snapped even more sassily and a look of irritation washed over his face. "why can't you leave me alone?"

"fine," he huffed, and started to walk to the front doors to exit the small building. "i'll apologize to your friend."

the whole walk back to the car, tyler was mumbling to himself but i couldn't hear what he was saying. once we got to my van, i opened the door on the passenger side and told ari to get out. confused, she got up from the seat and walked out in front of the car, seeing tyler. her face seemed to drop and her mouth formed into an "o" shape with surprise.

"hey," tyler made his way over to my best friend and i rolled my eyes when he threw his arms around her. i saw her wipe her eyes again and nod when he asked if she forgave him. i watched as they talked back and forth and it was good, because ari was now happy again. after they said their goodbyes, ari walked back over to the other side of my vehicle and got in.

tyler turned to me and i continued to stand there awkwardly. i thought he'd just wave and go away, but he walked close enough to where he literally towered over me and our bodies were almost flushed together. i hadn't even noticed how tall he was, i've been walking away from him the whole day.

"look, i know you hate me but i was thinking, i want to make it up to you," he flashed me a big grin and i gulped, staring up at him with a blank look.

"you don't need to make it up to me. make it up to ariana."

"i already did. i mean you. ariana doesn't hate me anymore, you still fucking do."

i crossed my arms again and gazed off into the distance. i saw tyler take out his phone and type in the password, clicking a few times before handing the little device to me.

"well, i was wondering if i could get your number..." tyler seemed to be blushing because his chocolate skin seemed to lighten into a dark rosy color.

i thought about it for a second. what was i supposed to tell ari? that i got tyler the creator's number and not her? did i even like this guy? ugh, i didn't know what to do so i just shrugged and took his phone, punching in my number. i even thought about giving him a fake one but i decided it wasn't worth it.

i handed the phone back to ty and he slid it into his pocket again, nodding at me before walking away. he didn't even say goodbye, or that he'd text me. i bit my lip and shook my head, going back to the car and getting in. ari didn't say a word as i backed out of the parking lot and sped off.
