I sat and watched. That's what I always do, sit and watch. It's what I was brought up to do, what I had been taught to do, day in, day out. My blue eyes had been trained to pick out everything, from small movements, to reading lips.
I watched. That's what I do.
My name is Alice, if you're wondering. The year is 2025, and I'm here in the great country of America. Just one day before the annual purge. Oh? You don't know what The Purge is? Well let me inform you.
The Purge is an annual holiday in which everyone does what they want. Yeah, you heard me. Everything is legal, even murder. It's not what you think it is though, they may tell you that the crime rate has fallen, and poverty is almost non-existent. It's because of the Purge, but it's because the poor are the targets. They can't protect themselves. They don't have the funds to buy weapons, or high tech blockades.
So now you know what the Purge is, now you know how it works. I'm against the whole idea, the thought of it all being legal for one night. It's just a fire waiting to be dosed with gasoline. The Purge had taken my life from me, it had taken everything from me. I tried not to think too hard on the subject, but when it came around to this time of year. It's hard not to.
I was prepared for this night however. I had made a resolve to stop anyone who wished to purge on this night; I wasn't going to sit by and do nothing. This time... I was going to take action.
