There were lots of unanswered questions about Catherine. She wasn't phased by the illegal bets going on, she knew exactly what was happening and she willingly spat in her hand to make a deal. Thomas Shelby wasn't a stupid man and spotted this immediately. A woman of that wit and ruthlessness, who can blow a mans brain out is trouble and Tommy loved it.
After Catherine's encounter with Mr Shelby and his gang, she found herself again lost in a massive city which she had never been to before. She needed to make a friend and make one fast if she is gonna survive here.
She needed new clothes which weren't covered in blood, sweat and mud. She needed a legal(ish) job and she needed money. She didn't know how long until they find her. She needed to move on quick. Get the money, get a new identity. Maybe some friends in high places and then she's good to go and Thomas Shelby just seemed like the right kind of friend to have."Catherine! Oi Catherine"
Catherine turns around to find the woman from Tommys betting agency, the one with the thick brummy accent.
"I'm Polly, Polly Gray." There was a pause. Catherine just stared at her wondering if she'd ever get to the point. Polly rolled her eyes at the girls cold behaviour. "Don't you act all high
And mighty with me girl. I've seen girls that are scared before and you're one of em. So why don't you show some gratitude to a woman who's about to give you a job."
Catherine couldn't help but smirk at the woman's attitude. It reminded her of her mothers when she was young.
Catherine crossed her arms
"What's the job then Mrs?""The barmaid at the Garrison. That pub you killed that man in." Polly mirrored Cathys actions and also crossed her arms. "You ever pulled a pint before Princess"
Catherine had to stop herself from laughing. She truly did like Polly. No one back home would ever speak to her like that. Especially not a woman. "Yeah, I have. And if I'm gonna be a Barmaid I think I'm gonna need a new frock ain't I? Can't have the punters see me in a dress like this."
Polly looks down and examines the red dress. It's a good job the dress is red otherwise the blood from the dead man would've stood out like a sore thumb, instead it's left a dark circle stain which looks like someone's just spilt a drink on her. The hem of the dress is slightly torn and soaked in mud. Catherine's dark hair is attempted to be pulled back but loose strands have escaped and fallen down her face. Polly knows that this girl certainly isn't an ugly one but something about her is wrong. She knows that this girl will be good for nothing.
"Right! Let me show you the way. Pay attention mind. I'm not walking you everywhere."
